Just built this. Thanks for posting. I will warn you though that this will take you longer than an hour and a half to build if your garage is anything like mine and you have to push all the crap out of the way to actually make space to build. Then add in time that you spend tripping over all of your shit, time spent at the ER because an injury related to tripping over said shit, time finding your tools, and you’re easily at a day or two worth of work.

In all seriousness though, this is an easy and cost effective build. I added jack studs to the front legs at the end to help make the front legs stronger. I would recommend the same. You will sleep better at night.

Thank you so much for this video! I built this yesterday. I got Castle Lumber yard here in Victoria, BC to cut the OSB to 20" lengths, so got 4 8 foot lengths from 2 sheets. Got me a dozen 2x6x8 boards and some screws. My wife got home just as I was removing the front support piece. I said watch the magic here. She held the front and I slid in all 4 20" sheets. Added some side supports and Voila! Really great way to build a shelf without back support boards. It looks great and it only took me 2 hours to build! This is without a doubt the best shelf building tip ever! Cheers

I remember when I built mine. The hubby took the kids to soccer practice and when he came back I was done. Love love Ana White plans

Jacob you are a perfect example of someone who can work alone and still get the job done. For many years I have come up with different ways to get the job done by myself when help wasn’t available. It goes even faster when you have help. You guys really get things done. I never miss a video. Thanks for sharing all this.

What I like to do when I rip plywood is to screw on a board to ride the saw against so I don't even need to eyeball the cut line at all during cutting. Very ingenious method! Love it! Will be using this in my fam's garage!

My new house is just weeks away from being move in ready! I watched all of your garage shelving videos and decided your way was exactly how to do it. I told my daughter how simple you made it and had her watch the video. Before you got to the part where you barely screwed in the horizontal 2x4s to the ones attached to the wall she said "I don't know what the big deal is." Kids right? Then she realized what you were doing and I could tell she was impressed and she said "That is so smart!!" When she builds her first set of shelves I guarantee you she will do it the exact same way. Thanks you guys!!

Quick and super user friendly!!! I just built these across the entire back of my garage and added doors. Thanks Ana and Jacob!

I have made these in the past based off an older video yinz did. They are so simple, yet so great. I use the kreg for joining the supports to rear horizontal 2x4. Big box store offers 2 cuts for free at the panel saw so I have them rip my OSB there, saves me a step. Thanks for great ideas and plans!

Thank you soo very much Jacob! I finally got around to completing this project over the weekend and it turned out fantastic. I did it by myself and it took around 5 hours, as I don’t have much experience in building, and have never done anything like this by myself. I couldn’t have done it without your tricks and tips, and when I explained to friends and family how I did this with no helper and in a single day, they were all amazed. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Oh thank you thank you thank you! I'm a lone carpenter and that means coming up with ways to move things from point A to B and how to hold them still and in place while you work on 'em. This info was just the ticket. Bless both of you and your family and friends! 💟🦌🦉🐱

Thanks for the concept. I built this in our garage 3 years ago and it's been great - now I need to build a second set!
I adapted your idea to make it easier and avoid toeing in screws at the shelf ends, something I wasn't comfortable doing. Instead, I placed the shelf support ends outside the parallel front & back pieces. In this way, I was able to screw straight into the longer supports. Much easier!

Great idea for the shelves. This method could also be used to make bunk beds in a cabin. Simple, cheap and sturdy

You two have grown so much especially Jacob since you started with your ‘Mom’ houses. More vibrant screen delivery and presentation. Good job on the house and projects. Great job on the kids and channel.

Great design. I modified it using 8-foot 2×3 uprights and horizontals, 16-inch deep shelves of 3/8 ply cut at Lowe's. I put in 13-inch 2x3 supports between the horizontals every 2 feet. Really strong. Really easy for this novice. I put up 2 8-foot units, and as soon as I get the stuff up off the floor and onto the shelves, two more are going in. So glad I found your video. Thanks.

I've been wanting to do these shelves ever since I first watched this video last year. I just completed mine today. Unfortunately, mine probably costs twice as much as yours did because of the outrageous lumber prices. The good thing is there is virtually no waste and I'm glad I finally got it done. Now, to get everything in my garage sorted out and make good use my new shelves. Thanks for the awesome video! 👍🏻

I used this and made some very similar shelves. They turned out great. I had a few issues such as a 3" sloping foundation lip on the bottom that made it difficult to line up the boards to take out. That was the hard part. But if I were to make again though I would make my shelves 32" wide instead of 24". I've found 24" is just not wide enough for me. Would require a couple extra 2x4's and sheets of osb for shelves but well worth it imo.

I've made two sets of shelves so far for my mothers huge garage. Watching this again as a refresher since I'll be building some up in my garage this weekend. I had home depot do the big cuts for me which saved a lot of time and mess. Thanks so much for sharing the knowledge man!

I used your design a few years ago for my garage. After several videos and much planning I took on the project. I installed them all by myself. The best thing I ever did. Thank you so much
