Apple and their dedication to going out of their way to make sure consumers cannot easily repair their products, despite even losing the lawsuit of having the right to repair, will never stop amazing me.

It's not that simple if I remember correctly. Apple's Type-C chip is binded and you cannot just replace one of them to get it working again. If one of the port on the left fails you have to change two chips on the left side and vice versa.

Well, if it really fried only the smaller chip itself, instead of an SoC - kudos to apple. Many AMD and Intel based laptops have their USB-C ports connected directly to the hub or to SoC package itself.

It's a Mac they are garbage from the factory and meant to be replaced for any tiny problems
