This MacBook has been absolutely demolished, it looks like it's been run over by a bus multiple times! The frame is severely bent, the display is shattered and bent like a potato chip, and the whole thing is a wreck. But the question is, can it be saved? Can we fix this MacBook? In today's video, we're going to take this trashed 2017 MacBook Pro and try to restore it to it's former glory!

*The MacBook is easily a metaphor of 2020 so far...*

Luke: Gets laptop run by a car repaired (at a cost but still).
Apple store genius: You'll need a new laptop because a back light pin is bent...

Really admire your patience in disassembling, reassembling and then doing it all again because of the faulty touch bar connector. Great video. Thank you for posting.

Luke: “it’s hard to believe it’s the same macbook pro” also Luke “OK we replaced everything except the logic board and trackpad”

When you rebuild the MacBook and it has a failed part. It makes watching the video satisfying to your viewers. Just because you have the problems that everybody else experiences. Then you go back and fix it a second time. That makes watching your video even more satisfying! Keep doing what you’re doing, it works! Be safe.

i don't think I have come across one video that I haven't watched the full thing.

I am a recent Apple convert. I was overclocking and water cooling pc's 20 years ago. I bought my first iPhone in October, and really started opening my eyes to Apple. I grabbed my wife's old 6, 1 Macbook and did a ram and ssd upgrade and installed Catalina. Just did the same with my sister in law's 7, 1 Macbook Pro.

I miss doing these kind of things. I am trying to figure out a way to continue fixing these old macbook's up and your channel has given me so much inspiration.

Thanks!

I've been watching your videos for a week now ever since I ordered my MacBook Pro, I pulled a Luke Miani and got a unit with better specs than what was listed on the ad :D

I have done that a few times on MacBook and MacBook pros it's interesting a fun if a bit nerve racking but once it's complete its great. People often ask me why I do it I just say because I can!. Nice video

Luke, great story. 👍 Reworked and serviced many macbooks from „the more serviceable years“ (2006/2009/2010/2011/2012) myself, so am I very impressed to see you this completely mangled 2017 one. Great work, great music, fine sense of humor. Keep on keeping on and stay healthy!

1:43 I wasn't wondering why you bought it, but how it ended up like that.

I LOVE your videos! You inspired me to try my own repair for the first time. I had a Chromebook with a bad battery, so I did my research on iFixit and bought a refurbished toolkit and a replacement battery on Ebay (following your tips to make sure I found a good seller) and BOOM - problem fixed!! This saved me over $500.
I have followed you for a couple years now and love the content and your sense of humor! I have always wondered how you got to your level of knowledge on Macs - Did you work at a Genius Bar?? Thanks again, Charles.
