I have an old 2009 Mac on High Sierra and no matter what I do I can't format it to factory and since my Dad passed away I don't have the original disks or any OS product key. I use the Command + R to get into the boot utility to reinstall it and come up with the same programs installed as were on before, it didn't reset to factory. Any tips?

It’s not letting me get into the programming stuff. It does for a second then goes back to turning on normally

After getting into that command prompt like interface and waiting for the root to pop up in the end, mine will glitch and was unable to enter the given keywords. What could be the problem? Thanks for your help!

So I did everything that you said, the weird codes appeared, I typed the this that were in the description but when I turned in on again the MacBook didn't reset...it stayed normal (with my user and same files) Do you know why? Did I did something wrong?
