When I managed iPads for a school board for 5 years, the big difference when putting an iPad in DFU mode, there was a DFU mode screen picture
on the 'patient' iPad that would indicate it was now in DFU. When trying this on a Mac for the first time, I was looking for a DFU mode on the "patient" Mac...but nothing ever showed up. I was surprised when I glanced at the good Mac and saw a DFU mode there!!

Thank you so much for this! Btw, did you have to charge the patient MacBook before performing this? What if my M1 Pro (the patient MacBook) doesn’t show the light on the MagSafe when charging? Should I wait for about 2 hours to charge it, even if the MagSafe light isn’t on? Or should I try charging it with USB-C before attempting to revive it? Thanks! Please reply <3 I want to do this later., ..

Thank you!! I tried literally every other hotkey/option, but nothing was working. I was duping my Display to HDMI/TV, and battery was critically low, so I had it plugged in. But then I shut down the laptop, and wonder if it was stuck in some mode, or I really dont know. Or maybe the MacBook crashed on shutdown from being too low on power.

But in any case, my MacBook would not boot up. Finally as a last effort, before going to Apple Store, was to run this process with a family members MAcbook, and the Revive option took a bit, but finally my MacBook is revived/wroking again and booted just fine. Whew!!

I wonder if one can enter DFU mode with an external keyboard since my 2019 MacBook Pro won’t boot all the way and has a non functioning keyboard and trackpad.

I think we need to do this on an iMAC A1862. The PP1v8_S5 rail is missing and anything below it. From the repair wiki, the firmware may be corrupt and is recommended for macbooks. Will attempt and document here and on badcaps. Thanks!

I was able to get the DFU revive option to start loading midway thru step 4 of 4, but after 5 minutes my contributer screen became a Padlock lock symbol where DFU used to be. Tried four times. Any ideas?

If I use a renewed mac to fix my mac, will it affect the renewed nac?

I have a 2017 A1534, it's been having similar issues, sometimes if I click the power button I can feel the force touch trackpad clicking, but nothing on the screen, in some cases it turns on run for 5 second and then dies, in other cases it turns on, shows the apple logo and the apple logo disappear while showing gray vertical line art effect on the screen and shuts off. I would assume it could be a cpu or a graphical problem, but I'm not sure.
