Completely agree, adf vs 16/8 really depends on your health & goal. I'm obese, my main goal is to loose the weight slowly(max of 2lbs a week) and even more importantly to reduce my insulin resistance. I'm sure once i get closer to my goal weight i'll switch to a time restrictive fast (16/8 up to 20/4), and do a extended fast about 3 to 4 times a year. If done one 7 day fast before, and the hunger is really not that much of an issue after the 1st or 2nd day (for me it helped to already be in ketosis when i started). My biggest problem initially was having all the extra time, and not having planned ahead what to do to fill the void.

What if one did zero carb every other day(full 36 hour)? I always did best with a low-fat approach. I might try a zero-fat every other day. My problem is I'm a junk food junkie, I eat bad(high-carb and high-fat) uncontrolled. I wanna lose 40 lbs, and I have diabetes, and am 54. I wanna fast, but I lose all control and end up eating and binging. I just need to eat low-fat all the time, but it's amazing how hard it is to control my eating. I think this is why so many people are obese and obese-related ill, it's just too hard to break bad-diet addiction for most people.

So it's a yes to ADF if you're overweight but no to ADF if you're already lean?

You just described me, I'll try ADF since I still have IR since I have been on a weight loss stall for a over a year regardless being on Keto (I haven't gained any weight or inches though) Thank you for sharing this information, it's of great value.

It’s about adaptation. The body needs to get used to it.
