Age 50 and have set physical goals annually “for my birthday.” Last year went from 0 to 10 pull ups. This year I think it’s gonna be the hand stand. Total beginner, and months to work on it.

I’m almost 69 I’m at the feet up the wall stage - but haven’t been doing it regularly but that’s going to change now as I want to tick a handstand off my list before I’m 70. Love your work👍👍👍

I like how Josh kept referring to "Josh in the field." I appreciate a good sense of humor. And I like that he included wrist stretching. I think sometimes that gets overlooked because people just want to accomplish a handstand.

I appreciate that you’ve released a video for total beginners! I’ve looked up a couple “how-to-handstand” videos in the past and the first progressions are always beyond me... so finding this was really helpful (And way less depressing 😆)! Also, I appreciate that you care about our back and wrist health 👍🏻

I went to the park today where a teenage guy was doing a handstand. I wanted to approach him and ask for the basics but then didn’t. And now you come up with something that I have been so looking forward to. Thank you 🙏🏾

One little tip that worked for me: when you look at the ground when standing upside down, try to keep your head as straight as possible (aligned with your body) while looking at the ground between your hands. For me it was hard to tell how straight my back and hips were when doing my handstand or how to fix that. By just doing this, it forced my back to also straighten.
Good luck to everyone attempting the handstand. Great vid!

Used to be able to handstand as a teenager. Took a longer brake 25 years and 30 kg and tested again. Immediately noticed a lot of pain in my shoulders. Lesson learned remember to strengthen your shoulders if you are going to do this ;)

Hey man, really really great tutorial. I have a gymnastics background and even gymnastics couches sometimes forget how important shoulder mobility is. I found myself often asking myself: "Is he going to adress this and that as well??" You always did! Covered all bases.
I may still have a mini mini tip for the more advanced stuff you tried later in the video. If you start doing things like press to handstands from a pseudo-planche position: try actively pressing your feet and knees together. Gymnasts not only to do that to avoid deductions but the added tension makes moving your legs in the air much easier as more force you put in gets to the desired joint. Keep doing what you are doing. Great video!

That's a whole lotta detail and enthusiasm to put into a free video. Thanks man.

I love this channel. I have only started with calisthenics this year and as a female who has had the motto "Every day is leg day!" I find everything super hard as I have jello arms.
The progressions here are soooo helpful. Thank you soooo much!!!

Josh, LOVE LOVE your video. I'm 2 yrs into my handstand journey and it is slow, but coming along. I am a senior citizen, but since retirement, I have devoted myself to flexibility and strength! Therefore your videos are exactly what I want and need. I have hit 28 seconds in my HS hold, although I am sorry to say the consistency is still not there in my kick up. I am improving and opening the shoulders but my line is not yet where I want it to be. It's like once I hit the spot I feel I can hold it, but I am only 20% successful in hitting that spot! I admire your strength and flexibility! You are my hero and so good at explaining the how and why! Thanks for your help in my journey!
