I have binged many of your videos the last few days, and I have to say from the bottom of my heart, I have never felt more understood and validated for my neurodivergency before. The different techniques and routines you show to ground yourself, are things I absolutely resonate with, but maybe haven't let myself do fully, or enjoy because I didn't see the value in it from society's standpoint (efficiency etc). So in the end they made me spiral on into the apathy because of the mindset I had around it. I crave it, but beat myself up over it, because I feel the pressure to just jump right into work mode like "everybody else". And that does not help the anxiety or self image. Thank you for showing me the value in the much needed routines we create ❤

Thank you for the video, it really resonated with me (especially with focusing on food when unmedicated)
I need to second other comments, though - drinking coffee (if not decaf) first thing in the morning stood out immediately to me. At worst, combining caffeine with stimulants gives me severe anxiety. At best, it's a massive boost on days when I'm physically exhausted from very intense training in the morning. And note that without ADHD meds, caffeine makes me sleepy, so while everyone's different, this definitely could be contributing to your Adderall experience.

I feel seen by this video. I also have both ADHD and anxiety. Thanks for sharing your experiences. This really helps.

You making that cup of coffee calmed my anxiety just a bit 😊 medication is really taking a toll on my already bad anxiety, and when this happens, working out, walk, meditation helps

Edit: my airpods are always dead 😂 the beauty of adhd. It’s like making lists: i need a list to make a list. I need a plan to make a plan.

Thank you for making this video! I recently switched meds from a non stimulant to Vybanse… I’m on day 5 and I’m experiencing a lot of anxiety. I don’t often have anxiety and my symptoms have been pretty much all physical. It has been a confusing process for me because I can’t think my way out of it and I also know the source is from the meds. I haven’t heard anyone differentiate between physical and mental anxiety before; I just always thought they went hand in hand.
Anyway, it was nice to hear someone talk about it (I feel like you described a lot of things I’ve been experiencing but haven’t been able to articulate yet) and get some simple and blatant examples of ways to offload the anxiety. Even just acknowledging that it’s visually pleasing and therefore helpful when watching the vacuum suck up the fluffs of fur was really validating. Or when you said that going for walks isn’t really enough… walking is my go to and it hasn’t really helped these past few days.

So cheers! Thanks for sharing.

It’s so interesting how everyone reacts so differently with meds. I took Vyvanse and it took my anxiety away! It was wild. But it made me feel so detached so I might try adderall

Thank you so much. You hit the nail on the head with my anxiety. It is very physical for me. I like your solutions for this and going to use them right

I have ADHD recently diagnosed at 30 years old, always had anxiety and even panic attacks, Just my opinion you should switch to a slow release stimulant long lasting such as Vyvanse which will take your anxiety away, of course keep in mind the dose has to be precise everyone is different.

It’s so frustrating getting anxiety/irritability as a side effect . Without the medication I can’t do anything but with it there’s unpleasant side effects. I think having Autism makes us more sensitive to medication

This was all super helpful for me. Especially the point about journaling not being effective. Thank you so much.

On vyvanse 50 mg for a month now. Almost stopped taking it because of side effects. Cutting coffee and alcohol from my diet, it has made so much a difference in improving side effects. 😊

Are you drinking decaf coffee? Cos I don't know if caffeine is going to go well with your meds. I had to cut caffeine out years ago because it was inducing panic attacks for me every time and keeping me up at night no matter how long ago I'd had the coffee

thank you for sharing this!
just wondering, could it be the coffee that's giving you anxiety? have you tried going without it for a few days?
personally coffee and tea both feed my anxiety... what i found htelpful when i must have a stimulant is to add in some verbana herb.. it sort of cancels out the anxiety .. also keeping the coffee light helps.

Love your videos! Your description of the physical anxiety is sooo relatable! ❤ I was wondering if the anxiety is worsened by the caffeine added to the stimulant. By now, I’ve read many times that ADHD meds shouldn’t be combined with too much caffeine, especially if you are prone to anxiety. I also have a separate anxiety disorder next to my ADHD diagnosis and so had to switch to decaf when taking my meds, otherwise I will get really panicky. I still feel a little bit of physical anxiety with the meds alone, but never the same as combined.

Body scanning/ meditating might be really good to grow the body mind connection and reduce the disconnect a bit better 💙

girl, that helped a lot. I loved your routine and I am definitely going to use some of your techniques on my daily routine. I also have diagnosed ADHD, and I believe I also suffer from GAD or C-PTSD, I am currently working on having those diagnosed. Did you know that if you take a Protein source with your meds in the morning, you'll make them way more effective? Something like adding a couple of boiled eggs to your breakfast is going to help the stimulant medication in its release, and maybe it can even be helpful with that anxiety that comes right after you take the meds, because maybe you are metabolizing those meds super fast on your combination of empty stomach + coffee, if you take a protein source the meds are going to be metabolized, and maybe you could have a more pleasant experience. I am absolutely no specialist, but I am sure if you google stimulants + protein source you will see lots of studies about it. I can also say that as for my personal experience, taking just the meds itself is one thing, and taking the stimulants with a protein source is almost like taking 2 medications, or taking a whole different med than just taking it by itself.

The meds actually helped me soooo much I’m on slow release so there isn’t much of a rush, just eventually my mind quiets more and I can fonction better. And because I can fonction better and control my thoughts my anxiety vanished 🙏🏼 the only problem is that I often forget to take my meds 🥲

A huge amount of the anxiety for me was caused by the lifestyle changes that came with the medication (I’m 10 days in)

I was very dependant on caffeine for focus, having 4-5 double espressos depending on the day, and if I wasn’t having more than a couple coffees I was drinking 7/8 cups of tea. I had tea during the first couple of days with meds, and I was a jittery, shaky paranoid mess. It’s all mint tea now :(

I also used alcohol to reduce my overstimulation in social situations (auDHD things), and since I’ve cut that out I’ve a) realised that there are a lot more people I don’t like than I’d realised, b) found out that there are very few activities for 18 year old Europeans to do which don’t involve drinking and c) too many people will hear “I can’t drink because of my meds” and say “You can get really fucked up now! Have a tequila shot with me!” multiple times until you take a shot of alcohol free beer. Technically I can smoke on my meds, but I don’t really want that habit to form, so I’m not as fun at parties/nights out and have had people in my outer circle say as much (hence point a).

I’m kind of glad that all of this happened though, because it’s letting me see certain people for exactly who they are. I think I saw the world I lived in before with the rose coloured glasses of numbing myself, and now it does hurt a bit, but I’m glad that I feel more present day to day. I just wish I’d made some more friends who have hobbies outside of partying and clubbing before this point, since I’m (hopefully) moving for college next year, there’s not a lot of point in rectifying that.

ADHD meds work great for me but I had to cut out caffeine in the morning. Also, too much sugar while on meds can exacerbate anxiety.
