Anxiety is one of most prevalent mental health disorders, with 1 out of 14 people around the world being likely affected. Leading up to conditions such as depression, increased risk for suicide, disability and requirement of high health services, very few people who often need treatment actually receive it. In her talk “How to cope with anxiety”, Olivia Remes of the University of Cambridge will share her vision on anxiety and will unravel ways to treat and manage this health disorder. Arguing that treatments such as psychotherapy and medication exist and often result in poor outcome and high rates of relapses, she will emphasise the importance of harnessing strength in ourselves as we modify our problem-coping mechanisms. Olivia will stress that by allowing ourselves to believe that what happens in life is comprehensive, meaningful, and manageable, one can significantly improve their risk of developing anxiety disorders.

My anxiety is causing depression. And it makes me think of my past and how happy I was.

Anxiety happens when you think you have to figure out everything all at once . Breathe . You're strong . You got this . Take it day by day .

1) Take control of your life, start something by doing it badly. 2) Forgive yourself, be kind to yourself. 3) Having a purpose and meaning in life.

I watched this with my mom 6 months ago when I was paralyzed with anxiety, I am 34 but I was so sad that she had to take a day off work just to sit with me and hold me and I was so scared and screaming crying from anxiety. I watched this and it helped me so much. Now six months later I am happy, I have a job, I’ve turned my life around. I was so far gone, I’d been so depressed since I was 15. But now I wake up and feel happy. No longer afraid to be out in public. Tapered out my meds I’ve been on for 14 years. I sleep at night and wake up refreshed in the morning. If my life can be this good then so can yours. I was so poor I never knew how to pay rent and now I’m independent and have the nicest colleagues. Hold on, life will be beautiful. Just hold on

i liked how she mentioned it can be like an "out of body experience" like you'll be in the middle of a conversation yet it feels like your just hearing your own words.

The feeling in the stomach that won’t leave is awful and when my legs shake and my hands won’t stop moving because of how bad it gets I genuinely feel broken.

I’ve struggled with anxiety for many years. But lately I’ve tried to adopt this mentality of “I’m feeling anxious but i’m just going to accept it and keep moving forward”. It has helped me immensely. (Obviously easier said than done)

I don't know should I be happy or sad for finding people like me. But I believe in my deep heart we will deal with this.

I cried... Living with anxiety is so difficult. She analyzed it perfectly and the advices are PERFECT. I don't have any control on my life because of a health issue and my anxiety is living is best life because of my lack of actions and sense of living. When I do, just one thing, that makes me feel I'm in control, I'm someone else ! The thing is to never stop making choices, /actions because anxiety come back very quick. It works. If you really wanna do something, breathe and do it without thinking. It's terrifying at first but so much fun when you're doing it, and even after because you're so proud of yourself and so impressed how good and easy it was.

My biggest anxiety trigger is loneliness, but it triggers every day. Olivia did a great job here, I genuinely smiled when she hit the ball on so many points.

What I hate so much about anxiety is that constant feeling in your guts that something is so wrong, and that you need to act but you don't know how or if it makes the situation even worse.
It's that feeling of a void, which makes me avoid.

Psychedelics saved me from years of uncontrollable depression, anxiety and illicit pill addiction.imagine carrving heavy chains for over a decade and then all of a sudden that burden is gone.Believe it or not in a couple years they'll be all over for treatment of mental health related issues
