I just really love the foreshadowing in this show. Like how Jamie is enthusiastic to finally fight a worthy opponent but all his excitement got ruined in the end because of that soldier who stabbed Ned in the leg. It kinda foreshadows how excited we were at the beginning of the show to see how it ends and then season 8 stabbed us in the back and that enthusiasm was there no more.

Ned: “This situation is getting out of hand!”
Jaime: “Whoa, Whoa, Stark! Let’s not lose our heads!”

Lord Stark had no idea about Tyrion’s imprisonment, and yet his very first reaction is to defend his wife and take responsibility for his family’s action. Ned is such a truly honorable person and one of the only real “family-men” in the show

I love this scene so much because you can tell exactly where the two characters are. Jaime HATES Ned for not seeing his side in the killing of the mad king and this was supposed to be his revenge for it, where he "bests" Ned to prove who the better man is. Except he doesn't get this chance, because one of his men stabs Ned through the leg in a cowardly move. And when Ned looks up at him Jaime can tell exactly what he's thinking, "fucking cowardly Lannisters" and he's right, and Jaime is infuriated by no end to this because once again even though Ned is the one on the ground he's still the one with the moral high ground from an honor perspective. Fucking love it.

I like how the Lannister soldier who spears Ned is clearly expecting some form of reward

If this was season 8 Cersei would be in some balcony drinking wine.

I’ve always loved how Jaime’s expression at :43 suggests he’s actually surprised and outraged by Ned saying he commanded Tyrion’s capture. He was all ready to do a duel of words like so many do in King’s Landing — never admitting anything — but the northern honesty catches him off guard. You can really see that in his expression.

I love how Jaime unsheaths his sword without any hesitation the moment that Ned said "he was taken at my command". The perfect big brother.

Ned getting stabbed from behind... Arthur Dayne must've been laughing watching this.

I love Jaime’s interest in Ned. Since his King-slaying, Jaime has this terrible yearning for honour, something Ned Stark is known for. This manifests as a sort of desire to prove himself to Ned. First he tries to win that approval in their conversation about the mad king and then when Ned puts him down, he tries to prove it by beating him in combat. This is why the soldiers dishonourable backstabbing of Ned so angers Jaime. Just means yet again, he doesn’t get that honourable victory. This irony is that Ned’s own famous defeat of Arthur Dayne was in fact eerily similar.

Back when situations and fights actually mattered.

I love Jaime’s grin, how he’s acknowledging Ned’s skill and reveling in meeting a worthy opponent. Also love his sense of fair-play when he’s furious at the soldier’s interference.

If this was season 8 Jon would appear out of nowhere yelling "she is my queen"

At 2:00 exactly you can see the joy on Jaimes face he had heard all about how Ned was the one who killed Arthur Dayne and has been waiting to see Ned fight because Jaime didn’t believe Ned or anyone could beat Arthur in a fight. But that slash by Ned came close to slicing Jaime and you see the realization in his eyes that Ned is actually a great swordsman and that means there is a real chance he might have beat Arthur something Jaime thought impossible and now he gets to fight Ned too

I love their faces. Jaime in ecstasy at fighting a worthy opponent, Ned not relishing the moment, just doing his duty.

Damn i love that moment where Ned is just staring at Jamie after he gets stabbed in the leg. They both know that this wasn't the way it was supposed to go, and Jamie Fucking knocks the guy out who stole his one on one duel with a man he has issues with. The fact that Jamie got so upset over having a man he hates be bested by a cheap shot instead of by fair combat shows that he still respected Ned despite his anger. The writing for this show used to be so good

Honestly love how loyal Jaime is to his family. He’s just like: “you took my brother, prepare to die”
