Who wouldve guessed this would be more epic than the Night Kings death.

I like how in the books, even though Brienne beats Jaime here, she admits to herself that if he hadn’t been exhausted, malnourished, dehydrated and had both hands tied together, he’d have absolutely BODIED her

-"You shouldn't grimace before you lunge."
Next second: Grimaces before he lunges.

I love how Jaime says not to grimace before a lunge...and then proceeds to grimace before literally every single one of his attacks.

I know Brienne takes everything seriously, but she seems even more focused and intense here, because she knows who she is dealing with.

Jamie: "Never understood why some knights felt the need to carry two swords."
Brienne: "One's for killing monsters. The other? For killing humans."
Geralt of Rivia: *Onlooks the scene with approval*

Truly wish we got more scenes showing Jaime Lannister's fighting prowess

I love Jaime Lannister, so much slickness, swagger, cleverness, and douchebag tendencies.

"He was weak from imprisonment, and chained at the wrists. No knight in the Seven Kingdoms could have stood against him at his full strength, with no chains to hamper him. Jaime had done many wicked things, but the man could fight! His maiming had been monstrously cruel. It was one thing to slay a lion, another to hack his paw off and leave him broken and bewildered."

Quote from Brienne in the books about Jaime in this scenario.

edit: jfc its been 3 years, stop commenting on this shitty quote you losers.

In the books:

"
Brienne remembered her fight with Jaime Lannister in the woods. It had been all that she could do to keep his blade at bay. He was weak from his imprisonment, and chained at the wrists.

Thanks D&D, I hate u really.

In the books, Brienne is completely outmatched by Jaime even in his condition. Jaime was the best swordsman alive during the events of Asoiaf. Barristan might have stood a chance against him in his youth and Arthur Dayne was long dead.

I love Jaime's reaction as he gets a feel for the sword at 0:37 like meeting an old friend again after being apart for so long. Martin is such a brilliant but cruel writer, maiming the greatest fighter of Westeros after all the pain he'd already had to endure. His skill was only thing that was truly his own and he has it stripped away from him.

From fighting her to knighting her, Ser Jamie has come so far.

Ik hes supposed to be tired but damn we never really got an awesome "best swordsman in westeros" fight its such a shame

It's a pity we never get to see Jamie's true potential as a swordsman. This fight and the one against Ned were only minor scuffles, and the only scenes where he has both hands.

You know you're good at swordplay when the person in full plate armor is intimidated by you when your in rags, in handcuffs and probably in poor physical conditon after being a prisoner.

I never understood Jaimes reasoning here.

"I'm starved, dirty, weak, caked in my own shit, but being returned to the Lannisters by this beast through some misguided treason from Lady Stark. I'm being searched for by the entirety of the north and completely out in the open on a bridge. I know! I will take a sword and best the beast in combat, then make a run for it! WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG?"

As someone who was an athlete and then spent 10 months in a hospital bed this is 100% realistic. Your cardiovascular and muscles deplete remarkably fast when you don’t use them constantly. I was shocked how fast I lost muscle and got out of breath walking up one flight of stairs. I went from 198 to 127 in 10 months. I also wasn’t eating food though.

This is Jaime's last sword fight before he joined the Cripple Squad with bran

In the book this scene showed the immense ability of Jaimes prowess! He pushed Brienne through the forest and past creeks for ages, flurrying his sword about relentlessly.
