I made that mistake my sophomore year of highschool. Cut hard to get to 130 made it to state but got smoked cause I couldn't wrestle hard all the way through the match. Didn't cut as hard my junior and senior and just wrestled at the weight I could maintain comfortably and I never got beat on conditioning ever again.

Thank you for the video. So many wrestlers and coaches think about cutting weight incorrectly. You make things easier for me as when people ask me questions I can send a link. This one will come in handy. I am glad people are changing their minds about this. I have seen horror stories about cutting weight. I had friends that had offers to wrestle in college or chances to compete internationally and simply were done and said no in their minds because of cutting weight.

My son has lost 12lbs this past week. Running 3 miles a day and going to practice. He's been eating chicken, vegetables, oatmeal and whey protein. Today we added beef. He gets his homework down early and he's in bed by 10pm up at 6am.

I agree that dropping greater than 4% of their weight in muscle it will hinder performance. That said, dropping 10% of your bodyweight in water isn't hard and can be put back on fast with Pedialyte and Liquid IV.

So if I’m trying to get down to 143.3 I should be no more than 6 pounds over the limit one week from the competition or 150 lbs. ;we need to train at 7 pounds or less of our competition weight to not lose any strength. I will try to weigh 153 to be serious to be 143.3

Wow pretty cool. I'm not a wrestling, but i do jiu-jitsu. Not now due to old injuries. So i would like to lose weight from 220lbs to 190 or 195. Or even 186lbs on the extreme side. I'm 5 feet 8in. At 60 yrs old. By nutritional means. Let me know guy's a simple program. I have simple weight at home. Total weight of 205lbs. Regular iron plate 25', 35's, 10's. DB 35'S AND 45'S. Old school curl bar and 20lbs kettle bell my wife brought me. Bless her ❤ 😅 let me know. I do have a legit bench press and a multi flat bench press.

At 132 all I have to do is go hard at practice and skip dinner and I’m good 126 on the other hand is a struggle but I know I can do it. You just gotta make sure your hydrated

What about fasting???? There's new studies on that. Check out Jason Fong. I find I keep more muscle and recuperate faster from a cut when I fast. Nothing preserves muscle better then fasting. I train in a fasted state
