Tomorrow my first kickboxing match will be held, luckily I just knew these information. Hopefully I have sometime to cut off some weight. Thanks Shane for the great tips. Wish my luck.

This is why I'm staying super heavyweight, got no time for water cuts.

Do you do the heavy sweat workouts all 5 days?

Hi Shane. Can you do a video on how to close the distance without hesitation or fear but NOT be susceptible to getting caught.

Great advice, hot bath 104-105 degrees for 10 min rounds is great. Compared to exercise for sweat production, it's not burning energy that will be needed 24 hours later. No longer than 10 minutes, have a buddy with you. (nobody wants to pass out and drown in thier tub).

I've heard 7% to keep enough water on your brain to keep your risk of concussion, or permanent damage down.

They're starting to see that smaller guys are much more sensitive to this effect. Most of the time, when someone gets a brain injury, it's because they cut too much weight. From what I understand, your brain takes a while longer to fully rehydrate compared to your body's muscle, skin, etc.

I've heard for 150lbs and up, 10% is ok. But, once you start getting well under that, you should try to be closer to 7-8%. Even less for featherweight division. Then, it's like 5-6% safely. It's also highly individual. One person who cuts 10% might feel fine. Whereas someone else of the same exact weight and composition can't even go that far without passing out or causing lasting harm to themselves.

I'd also make one small correction on drinking 2 gallons of water, 2 days in a row. If you are starting from a point of low electrolytes, that could make you hypernatremic. Which is a fancy word for drinking too much water and flushing out all of your salt/electrolytes. You can have seizures and die from that. Don't want someone thinking that they are having seizure from cutting weight when it could just as easily be hypernatremia from drinking that much water. If you had a good diet before hand, sure. But, you could easily get into trouble doing that if you were already defecient.
