After having failed a lot of interviews, I went to the last interview I had having stopped caring completely. So I changed to sweatpants and T-shirt as work-out was next, went in to the interview not giving a damn anymore. Just casually answered everything with brutal and direct honesty. Even when it wasn't in my interest. Would by most people be considered self-sabotage but I had utterly stopped caring and given up at that point. Talking informally and joking around a lot. That's the job I finally got offered and took. Sometimes the world just doesn't make sense.

They need to teach this in school. It’s wild how something like this is so important but not everyone knows the expertise to answer like this.

I have a job, but I still watched it for the future and some of the tips in here are actually helpful and helped me in the past to get my current job, since I read some of them before. Also I changed my attitude. In general I am really honest and natural person. People think sometimes that I am depressed or sad, but I am just always on the ground. I hate to lie or act. But I still wasn't getting any job offers. This time I decided to "uplift" myself and be a bit more cheerful, to smile more, to drop a joke or two in the interview, to act a bit more confident. They instantly gave me the job. It kinda makes me think that the world will never let you be yourself, so you have to put on a mask to achieve something.

"On that basis, I'd be comfortable with a salary of $35, 000."

"Sir, this is a Wendy's."

When I was hired, I asked for the *lower* value of my salary . I told him that I wanted to prove my worth before being given a set amount.
Fortunately, I have a genuine and honest boss, who after reviewing my performance, has raised my wages, again and again, to where I am on a level slightly above my colleagues who have similar experience.

I would NOT recommend doing this if you don’t know who you are working for, I just got lucky finding an honest man.

As a person that actually performs interviews, I really appreciate people that just go straight ahead with the amount they really expect.
No beating around the bush with what research they have done (lol, I know the realities and market standard, I am doing those interviews).
Best advise - think before the interview - and tell them that you are willing to take the job offer for X amount. Simple as that.

This is the kind of videos we all need in YT.
Straight to the subject, not making it longer, not hiding information. Definitely very good one.

All I ever say to this question is, it's not about the money, it's about having a career and somewhere I can progress. It's always got me the job. Short and simple

The last time I got an interview, I went straight to the point. For obvious reasons, I was given an offer that was 15% above what I asked although they originally said they could not give me as much asI expected. It was very competitive. I think if they can see your worth, they will not hesitate to meet your expectations.

Great answer. I used to teach interviewing and I always realized that this question must be addressed and not lowballed either. I appreciate the justification of the number. I always thought it was interesting that the least accurate way of assessing potential employees is the interview. The least reliable predictor of employee performance, specifically. And most employers know this. But they feel they can beat the stats. OK, give them what they want to see then. This is kind of a gift because you can figure out what they want to see, what they expect to see. Think of yourself as an actor acting in a film. You can practice your role so it's smooth and comfortable. And they will respond as you expect. You can practice too apply for jobs when you already have a job. What's the worst that can happen, you already have a job. It's great practice and you might end up with a better job.

I had the best answer.

-"What are you expecting for pay?"
-"I have no expectations. All I know is, that I appreciate pay very much, and if I see bonuses I know you're happy with my performance. I do not need "Happy Birthday" wishes, I do not need pats on the back. I need money."

Got a $1/hr raise each week for 7 weeks, not lying, starting with the second week.
I loved that boss. It's a shame I had to move.

Little part time job: I asked for what I had been making at a much more complex job I'd quit (where I was not being paid what I was worth). My boss offered me slightly less until I was comfortable in my new job with different responsibilities. I stayed at that wage for a year, not because my boss didn't want to give me a raise, but because I discovered the job came with amazing benefits (not insurance, but super flexible work schedule, products to take home as frequent bonuses, good crew and reasonably kept equipment.) After a year I asked for a raise and got a raise much higher than I expected, because my boss was thrilled with his new hire.
