There is a big difference between what you learn in business school, and what you need to know in the real world – just ask any startup founder or business owner! My goal is to focus on the real-world aspects of business, giving practical tips and tricks that are not usually covered in school.

This channel is a platform to help entrepreneurs and business owners succeed. It is also to help the world at large to be more effective and successful. The world can certainly use more inspiring leaders, more successful entrepreneurs, and more capable managers - that is what I would like to help bring about.

Who Am I?
I am a practicing management consultant, former CEO, and entrepreneur. I have led many businesses to success, as well as several startups. Among other things, I have an engineering degree, a master's degree in finance, and a master black belt in lean six sigma.

I have worked across five industries, and have worked in both large enterprise and small businesses. In the last five years, I have also been mentoring startup founders and teaching business at a post-graduate level.

Why I Want To Involve My Community:
The only way this channel will succeed is with YOUR help. In order to know how best to proceed, I need constant feedback from YOU. What topics should I cover? What challenges are you facing? What questions do you have? What changes should I make?

Please contact me with questions, and I will try my best to help. Best of luck!

Thank you for being here and reading this, and have yourself an amazing day!

I got hit with a "How flexible are you on your salary requirements" after providing a range higher than they expected. I told them " Very flexible, you can pay me anything above my range as well."

I’ll never understand why talking money is looked down on - you’re not interviewing for a job to work for free - you’re looking for a job to make money; why does it need to be some kind of secret??

I like this guy. Don't waste my time, gives useful advice, summarize it, and that's it. Nobody has time for longer videos than 5 min.

A long time ago I accepted a job for $28K, which was $6K more than I had been making. I was exciting to get it. The VP who hired me felt so bad, that I was lowballed, he gave me raises every 6 months until I was making what he thought was “ right”. I never forgot that.

I won't lie, I walked into this fully expecting this to drag on and on, but this is just my kind of video - informative, cuts straight to the chase, and most importantly, no bullshit! Hats off to you good sir!

HR asked me in the first round itself and it confused me why she was asking before technical round. Now, I'm getting into final round and found this video. And yeah, I gave her a range.

I’ve been watching and practicing this video for about a month now, and used your tips almost word for word for a job I really wanted. I gave a much smaller range for my salary expectations but a range nonetheless after they said “there’s no specific range but it will depend on your experience and technical skills for this position.” Long story short, I passed the phone screen, interviewed with the hiring manager the following week, and then interviewed with 8 folks from various disciplines the week after that. A day later they gave me a great offer - they gave me the top value in my expected salary range! I just wanted to thank you for making this video and helping me respond professionally when put on the spot to give salary expectations during the initial phone screen. You’re the best, and your other videos have help me as well! Glad to be employed again!

You're spot on, and it's what is really frustrating about the job market. When I was 23 and out of college, employers knew they held the power over me. When this question came up, I had to placate or get myself eliminated from a job I *needed*. Now, 20 years later with a built-up resume, I can tell someone exactly what I'm worth and if they don't want me - it's THEIR loss. It's difficult to tell younger folks to play hardball with this question because it will absolutely get them sent right out the door. Tough tightrope to walk, good advice here.

The problem is, interviewers game is very lame and they try to trick people out of jobs when they should be more skilled in actually hiring the right people. Then tricksters which are not necesarily good workers get the jobs saying what they need to say....

My answer: Well, you want to pay me as little as possible and I'd like you to pay me as much as possible, so somewhere in the middle is fine.
