90% of Rovers are still on the road, and 10% actually got home.

The old car adage comes into mind with a review like this.

“No one ever got fired or divorced for buying a Toyota”

I’ll only buy Toyota, Honda or Mazda.

In 1975 my friend took a lot of heat for buying a Toyota Corolla. His response was “I’ll buy an American car if you’ll fix it.”

I think we reached peak auto in the early 90's in terms of maintenance. Self repair was still quite easy without a proprietary computer. Parts were easy to source. Electronics had not completely taken over. Longevity was a selling point. Examples: 1991 Acura Integra, still running! 1993 Nissan pickup bought for $10, 500, sold for $4, 000 15 years later. Minimal mechanical issues with both vehicles, just brakes, mufflers, filters, & fluids.

I was blown away to see a video from America that actually included all mainstream American brands. For some time now, most Japanese and Korean brands have had the reliability and ownership cost attributes sewn up when you compare problems per 1, 000 sold. I know of two mechanics who DON'T drive the brands they specialise in servicing.

Perhaps the saddest take-away is that Fiat and Land/Range Rover didn't make the worst ten list.

My friend used to work CAA and I sent him this video. He said you are being too nice to Land Rover lol

I drive a Toyota, while my family all drive BMW and Tesla's and are always going to the garage for repairs and things. I never had to go for anything other than servicing and tyre changes with my toyota in the 8 years I have it. I live in the UK and people love Range rovers and BMWs here, the roads are full of them compared to other luxury brands

The survey data was definitely missing points that he covered well. They could've made a simpler list. Such as follows:
8. Nissan
7. Tesla
6. Ford
5. Dodge/Ram/Jeep/Fiat
4. GM
3. VW/ Audi
2. Mercedes
1. Land Rover/ Fiat

Just my take on it.

I'm always sad to hear about VW's unreliability because at 6'4" they fit me soooo well! 😫 I also love my CX-5...5 years and nothing but regular oil changes so far. Love your channel!

I thought BMW's and Audi's were unreliable as well. They should've been listed too.

Excellent report. The results are what I thought. I definitely would not buy one of these just for style. I still have my old Honda FIT 2007 and CRV 2010. Wish Honda would make hybrid HRV.

Like I always tell my friends who like and buy Mercedes Benzs... they are a mechanic's lucrative job security... especially after the warranty period.

We’ve also recently been having so many reliability issues with our 6th generation 2012 Volkswagen Golf to the point that we would save a significant amount of money in the long run by selling it and buying a more reliable car to replace it! :)

So pretty much buy Japanese or Korean made cars. I completely agree. Great video man. Keep them coming!

Honda and Toyota, easy life, no car drama.

Okay my issue with lists like these are that they don't make a lot of sense once you take a deep dive. Ford, jeep, dodge, Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC are on the list yet Lincoln, Chrysler, Buick, and Infiniti aren't? How can the exact same vehicle be unreliable with one brand and acceptable within the same division?
