My dad has a Nissan and it's not a bad car. Only issue is a design flaw that causes the windshield to crack when defrost is at too high of a temperature.

Toyota family here my wife's 01 4 runner is pushing 1.1m miles shes the 2nd owner aswell have had no issues at all just regular maintenance same for my tacoma only has 120k on it but I've put 30k in the 2 yrs I've owned it no issues unlike my old Mazda I had nothing but issues

Fords are considered so unreliable because ford technicians are told to count invasive service as a repair order. Things like trans filter, crankcase filter, timing belt, and other 50k mile service items are counted as repairs instead of services. In terms of mechanical failure ford is one of thr higher ranking car brands with a few exceptions, some examples being 2014 focus', the 6.4 powerstroke, and more recent transit vans.
