The automobile exception to the warrant requirement was first established by the Supreme Court in Carroll v. United States (1925), and provides that, if a law enforcement officer has probable cause to believe that a vehicle has evidence of a crime or contraband located in it, a search of the vehicle may be conducted without first obtaining a warrant. 267 U.S. 132 (1925)

What if they impound the vehicle just so they can say it's an "invintory search"

Inventory search would ensue if you were arrested and booked on driving under suspended license.

Can police take your vehicle apart if they search it and don’t find anything?

What does the automobile exception extend to if you’re just sitting in an automobile on private property and not driving at all? Like if the police just pull up and run the license plate when you’re parked under the property? They were on your license plate and it says that the person has a warrant, but they pull you out of the vehicle and there’s nothing in Plainview Can you search if you’re just arresting me for a warrant?
