What To Do If You Are Being Investigated By The Police

WHAT DO YOU DO IF YOU ARE UNDER INVESTIGATION?

What happens if let’s say a police officer leaves a card with his phone number on it at your doorstep or at your loved one’s doorstep or on his door? What do you do? What do you do next?

The best thing you can do is call an experienced, qualified defense attorney, and I’ll tell you why.

What they expect you to do is call them yourself and set up a meeting where they come over and they will talk to you. They’re not on your side, they’re not - it’s not their job - their job is to make arrests and get convictions.

Call us. That’s an investigation, that’s what we deal with.

We will take that information, we’ll find out from the officer exactly what they’re looking at, exactly what they want, exactly what they need. We will speak for you.

It’s very dangerous for you to speak to a police officer, because anything that you may have heard - you say to them - can and will be used against you - even if it seems like it’s something that seems innocent - it can be used against you.

For example, you acknowledge that you were at a certain bar at a certain time - you’ve already given them part of the proof that they may want. Let us talk to them for you.
Let us do it. We can speak to them, we can get information for you - we can protect you.

I’m Jeff Quisenberry with the Fernandez Law Group. Call us, we can help you.

Agree with you 100%. If they want to EVER talk to me I would say contact my attorney.

Yes, the police exist to arrest people and prepare paperwork for a prosecution. Even if you are not mirandized, they can use information to achieve an arrest. Never talk to police without an attorney. Police will tell you that only guilty people do that, but most police don't investigate "persons of interest" unless they already think you might be guilty anyway, so why not go in with some protection?

Or just dont contact them and refuse to speak with them invoking 5th ammendment privileges if they eventually show up in person so no lawyer required??... a not so nice nuisance detective recently wedged his card in my business front door saying only that he is "look for me" and to call him...i didn't and wedged it tight back in my store door and left it right where it was...exactly 1 week later it disappeared..??...and I haven't seen anything since ...that was 1 month ago. I have suspect ideas of what he wanted since crime is way up in my neighborhood and most similar businesses like mine have been broken into multiple times now because police will only do a catch and release anymore if that at all here..but my store is the only one i know if that hasn't been hit yet because I have been staying in here almost all night til sun up every night protecting it from break-ins since last years covid lock down (im near the Portland area) I have a 100% clean record but this same detective had it out for me years ago when he was an aggressive lying jerk officer in an unrelated case years ago when he threatened to jail me if I would not testify on his behalf to being an anonymous witness(no longer anonymous now) in court against my very dangerous and hostile and retalitorial neighbor. To protect my family and self I told the attorneys pretrial that I did not want to be there or help them so they released me as a hostile witness...several occasions over the years later that same officer/detective had made it know to me personally that he is on me presumably because I ruined his court plans I guess to save my life and familys... oh and by the way one of those arrested neighbors was released after trial and tried to burn my house down in the middle of the night even though we never testified and the cops or fire department never bothered to investigate when I shared that information with them.

If you are innocent, you have nothing to worry about.

What if the police aren't investigating you as a suspect but instead want to interview you as a witness just to get information? What do you do then?

Get an attorney, regardless. Innocent or guilt.

Or you take ur card and urself into the police station and answer any questions they may have in an hounest way. People only afraid of The police if they've done something wrong. Done nothing wrong got nothing to worry about.

Yeah sure, an Atty will ALWAYS recommend to get an atty. Ya know what I was told when I tried to get an atty? "you can't afford me", "go to Small claims court and settle it yourself". Police won't mess around with anyone that can afford to fight back, they KNOW who can't afford one.
