Even if you are just happy, the narcissist will be jealous of you

I think it's the worst if parents are jealous of their children's happiness and try to sabotage and belittle them

It's SO eye opening when you realize that narc in your life was actually a frenemy all along, not a true friend.

Being hesitant to share any good news because they'll get "irritated". Yep, that's their jealousy kicking in. They can't hide it. And, even if they pretend to be happy for your success, you can sense an underlying animosity. They're so predictable. You can be in a room filled with random people, and the narcissist is the one that you never, ever feel comfortable around. That's a red flag, too.

I didn’t pick up on the jealous comments at first. Now, looking back, I’ve noticed that they were only nice to me when I was going through bad times. When I was happy, when I accomplished great things, they didn’t act like they cared at all.

Watch their face, especially their eyes. Listen to their tone. How a person responds to your happiness or celebration is a clear indication of who is in your corner…& who is not.

Narcissist are jealous of everything, not just success. If you like a certain song they'll say another song or artist is better. If you went to McDonald's and bought identical hamburgers, they'll say theirs is better because the bun is softer or the pickle was perfectly centered! They are so petty.

The grass is always greener on the other side. Narcissist are never satisfied with what they have and always want what others have

People being jealous of how other folks treat you is also insane. They'll rather hate than work on their own character.

It's not just the jealous comments. Their jealousy is so destructive they try to destroy the other person's happiness. If they can't have it, they'll destroy it. Their psychological violence is on full display.

My father used to say - “there is no point in counting someone else’s money - because they arent going to give you any.” Such a waste of time and energy. It is the concept of scarcity. If someone else has something- it means they dont. Ridiculous.

Donot be angry with people who are jealous of you, instead of it - respect their jealousy. Because, they would like to be YOU. DoctorRamani, thanks for this video!

It’s the pathological envy that’s deeply rooted in these people.

Jealousy is a tough pill for many victims of narcissistic abuse to swallow because we’re programmed to believe that we have no value or anything that others want. If you were not valuable then no one would be trying to get a reaction out of you. Stand firm, be courageous, and plan ahead as far as possible.

I've dealt with a lot of jealousy in my life.I dress up nice, take care of myself and live a healthy lifestyle. I exercise and don't smoke, drink or do drugs.I eat healthy, (mostly vegetarian), and worked and continue to work for everything I have.I constantly get nasty comments or behavior from women and some men make leery comments towards me or innaccurate and demeaning assumptions about me.Being the best, happiest and brightest version of myself seems to piss a lot of people off.Whenever you shine your light you're going to breed haters.Don't let that stop you from shining your light. The right people will come along who can accept you for you and have their own self confidence.

Envy doesn't always express itself overtly. The one that I saw was that the narc wouldn't really say much of anything about another's success. But over time, they'd start pointing out that they were 'fat, ' or had an 'unfortunate face, ' or dressed like a fool, or was stuck in a miserable marriage, etc. So even if they don't directly tear down another's success, they'll go after that person in other ways. If that makes sense.

Narcissists ignore all of the days where it is so difficult to even keep your eyes open to complete a chapter in a book or finish a project. They ignore the muscle soreness and exhaustion that goes into working towards a goal. They expect the knowledge and understanding to be instantly transferred into their brain without any effort. When they see someone who is successful, they want the same level of success while ignoring all of the other person's effort.
