How much WEIGHT are you pushing in Chaturanga?!

🙋🏼‍♀️ I’m a yoga teacher, and I drop my knees for chaturanga 🙋🏼‍♀️

And I hope this post can help others know it is absolutely okay to drop the knees first! That is doesn’t mean you aren’t strong, it doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong, it doesn’t mean you’re ’not there yet’ 🙅🏼‍♀️

Because ~50kg/100lbs is HEAVY!

Especially to do multiple times throughout a class. And don’t even get me STARTED on how little time you get to perform chaturanga in a typical yoga class 😅

And chaturanga with the knees down is still chaturanga. It’s simply a version that is tailored to the individual.

And tailoring a yoga pose to YOUR body and YOUR abilities, is what I believe the yoga world needs more of 👌🏼

How do you feel about dropping the knees?
Are you reluctant?
Do you feel that it’s cheating?

And if you would like a tutorial on dropped-knees-chaturanga-form, let me know in the comments and if it’s a popular request, I’ll get one made asap!

Oh I always knew why I found chaturanga hard 😂. Never underestimate bodyweight exercises.

Could you make a video for how to achieve good chaturanga. Thank you so much ❤

I agree no one should be critical of themsleves for finding any yoga or bodyweight movement hard. Hard is hard and if the technique is safe, it's good for the body. The force being applied in the pushup is not the same as having the equivalent weight above you. In your video you exert more than 50kg of force momentarily. In a 50 kg bench press you're having to control and push at a *minimum* of over 50kg at all times.

Is that YOUR actual weight or heavier?
