The EASIEST way to reduce Nitrite levels in your aquarium!

Before anybody gets confused, this is a quick tip on reducing NITRITE levels, not NITRATE levels.
Fish waste breaks down and releases ammonia. Nitrite is formed by the conversion of ammonia by nitrifying bacteria.
Nitrite is then converted to nitrate by beneficial bacteria.
Although nitrate is not nearly as toxic as nitrite.

Tank problem is more the shape than size. If it was loaded with plants in an active substrate those fish would be fine. Bigger problem is 75 % change if nitrates in your tap are lower than your tank?? That makes no sense. They will almost always be lower since no one is pooping in your tap water like in a fish tank. Its the waste food etc being broken down in the tank that causes nitrates. 75 percent change is a random amount. If you have 40ppm nitrate and do a 50% change, youll have 20ppm. If you have 40ppm and do 100% youll have zero. (Not saying do 100 percent changes, also bad except extreme circumstances and even then...anyway) so the point is you do decide the water change amount based on your levels not just cause your tap has less. You definitely want and need nitrates to be present if you have plants. If you dont ( you should get some) i still wouldnt want to be at 0. If there are no nitrates for long enough then theres nothing for the bacteria to eat. So it starves or goes dormant which can reset your cycle all around. Im not hating on this guy. I was him. We all were. But keep watching more videos to learn and ignore this one.

And for my second comment: people get so angry because fish are actually really intelligent animals. They usually all have very unique personality and get abused often from people who refuse to learn or haven't realized how easy it is to learn. However the fact that you know all this, means you probably know this is a patheticly small set up for two live barers. Imagine being shoved in basically a soda can with a bunch of fake decore and you can only swim up down and turn around. It's wrong.

How to controll nitrates and nitrites: get a larger tank, stock less. This should be a shrimp enclosure. Nitrates are also not usually a bad thing, nitrites are.

If your freshwater tank was first filled with tap water, then use tap water for a water change. But personally, my water in my tank is RODI water (filtered water), so I have to use RODI water in my water changes

But what if my tap water is 100% save for human consumption? Eevn the water i shower with is drinking water, welcome to the Netherlands. Where we use drinking water for everything (inclusing flushing the toilet). And yes get a larger tank and live plants & proper substrate.

bro is trying to teach people about aquarium with too many fish in a too tiny a tank. get them a 10 gal at the very very least. get them some proper plants. not that plastic crap
