Why I Left Calvinism - Finale (pt. 1): C.S. Lewis, the 'Kappa Element' and the Enigma of Election

This is a continuation of a series about my journey out of Calvinism. In this video I begin to bring this series to a conclusion - stepping back to engage in a larger perspective on how we must wrestle with Romans 9-11 to get at Paul's meaning - and that an important "key" to this is to see and acknowledge Paul's employment of "enigma" in communicating these great truths. I especially draw on C.S. Lewis as an "expert witness" who, as a literary critic (of English Mediaeval Literature), both recognized and employed what he called "the kappa element'.

After 15 years within the Calvinist world - including an an M.Div. from Reformed Theological Seminary - and pastoring a Presbyterian (PCA) church for 9 years - I came to see that the "Reformed doctrine of election" was "true" to Romans 9 - but NOT "true" to Romans 9 THROUGH 11...
