Review Pros :
Nice quality camping set

Good value for the money considering that smaller pots made from stainless can be just as much as the entire Stanley kit.

good for backpacking, truck camping and even overlanding

Durable

Easy to clean - speaking of which, I used this over a fire and was able to clean it up with barkeepers friend

Pot is of an excellent size - big enough to make meal a for 2 people
Or Plenty of coffee

Everything nests together -

You can remove what you don’t need and leave it behind or even replace it with a stove, fuel, wash cloth, lighter, and so on.

Good handle, easy to deploy and to stow

Locking system

Lifetime warranty

Easy to clean

Review Cons :

Fairly heavy if you carry the entire kit but it can be lessened if you leave components behind

The company says that the lids can be used as a cutting board; that’s a bit of a stretch. Why not say that the bottom of a bowl is a cutting board too, it’s flat and if that is all that you need to qualify as a cutting board….

Grab tab is plastic; not so much of a con but a warning; if you plan to use this over an open fire you will need to be careful to make sure that the grab tab doesn’t melt. You can of course replace the tab with a key ring or a piece of wire if needed.

Summary : For the money Stanley continues with their excellent offerings for outdoor enthusiasts. The kit offers a lot for money and provides the user or users multiple options for both backpacking and car camping.

Do you have any experience with this kit? If so please share your thoughts and experiences; how do you use the kit? Is it too heavy for backpacking? Perfect for overlanding?

I have this set plus the "cook and eat" set which has 2 small plates, 2 sporks, silicone pot holder/trivet, cutting board and plastic lid for the skillet. I would pair both sets together to make a complete kitchen set

I've used this set for the last 3 years mostly for car camping. This thing is durable. I've removed the tab on the lid and replace with a metal ring and added a 5"x2" cake pan. Makes for the perfect baking oven. I make cornbread in this thing all the time. Just add mix, throw a couple small rocks in pot to keep the cake pan off the bottom, throw the covered pot into coals and place some extra coals on the lid. 15min later, perfect cornbread.

Just used this last night with my son. We had Ribeye's and candied carrots. Used the pan ladle and bowls for the carrots and then found out we forgot the plates. Cut the steaks in half and used the "cutting boards" and it worked great! Love the set...Keith D

I have used the adventure cook kit for years. It has literally never let me down. I would think this kit could be good for a Bushcraft or winter adventure.

'you have to be careful ' excellent advice for all walks of life!

Glad you liked it! I wanted to give it to someone who could use it. The utensils are for spaghetti as far as the spoon. The spatula really isn't useful in a pot.

I love this entire kit and the utensils come in handy quite often for my cooking methods. Stanley kits are amazing and probably 60% of my kitchen set (overland camping) are Stanley products. I love the single wall canteens with double lids for coffee on the road. I place two koozies on the outside and that keeps my coffee or tea warm and the two lids keep spillage to a minimum, if any. For cold drinks, I put them filled with my favorite beverage, place them in my refrigerator and they stay ice cold for hours after removing them to enjoy.

Stanley pots are well made. I have the adventure set with two size pots with everything for 75 bucks couple years back. Still using it today.

Hi Luke, I believe Stanley looked at building a kit that would hold items that usually don't fit well together/easily such as the utensils. Most of us can stuff a spoon/fork into a cook kit, so Stanley thought, "Let's make the utensils fit since most can get their sporks to work."
Keep the great reviews coming!!!

I have the same kit. Works well for "car" camping. We are not much of backpackers. I've had mine for at least 10+ years and no problems. The plastic spoons work better for cold salads etc. We use metal utensils for the cooking.
Thanks for the review!

For the money Stanley has it covered and their gear is outstanding as far im concerned the utensils really are not that big a deal just add what ya need and build it how ya want and ur good to go

I have that kit (and the even heat kit) and they are wonderful. Stanley and Coleman forever! I like the value and quality.

Luke, I am so glad you liked this kit! It did show that you could put a canister in this kit and maybe a small stove. The bowls are nice. The spoon in some of the newer kits is much better, so maybe they heard you!

Good review, Luke. I like the things I’ve seen from Stanley, their other cook set, the thermos. If they would hit my wish list, they would make a pot with a skillet lid, filled with a stove, a long handle spoon, a spice kit/oil bottle in decent carry bag, for $35.00. Heh, heh... Texas

Thanks for the thorough review Luke. As for the tab on the pot lid, it can be removed by pushing the pin out of it and then just replace the tab with a 32mmsplit ring or a #2 S-biner. There are mods that can be done to this system to increase it's functionality, James at Waypoint Survival has some nice hacks/mods for this cook set. All in all it's not a bad system, but I do believe it can be improved upon. One unfortunate thing is that the price has currently gone up US$5.00 for the set. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience with this cook set. Your review is spot on.

I really like Stanley products. As a matter of fact I have alternative cook set but my go to is my Stanley 20 oz...the very 1st one I purchased when I started backpacking. I have smaller lighter sets but I still use it almost every trip!

Love the coffee press they make. I may have to look into that too.

I have this cookset and works well for my purposes. Unless I'm car-camping, I only take the pot and lid with me. I leave behind the bowls, cutting boards, and spatula. Without all that stuff, you can fit a large 220g propane fuel canister and washcloth inside the pot with the lid closed.
