25 Things You Missed in Modern Family

Even though it only feels like yesterday since it first premiered and Cam lifted Lily in the air in a perfect Lion King homage, the show first aired well over a decade ago, and after eleven seasons, finished its run two years ago…We have had a whole pandemic and a bunch of other crazy things since then! But, as Dom Torretto would say, there is nothing more important than family, and we miss our crazy, dysfunctional yet loveable modern one. That’s why we thought we would go on a nostalgic trip back to where it began and through all eleven seasons as we look at 25 or so things you might have missed in Modern Family.

This will include a bunch of easter eggs and references to past episodes (most of which we had completely forgot about), recurring jokes (and their improvised origins, a series of tiny details hidden in a stylistically original episode, a nod to our favorite movie of all time, some hidden easter eggs at Phil’s open houses, some nods to a famous sitcom that one Modern Family actor is arguably best known for, a dark call back in form of audio message, multiple call backs to the pilot, two recastings you might have missed, the true story behind the show’s mockumentary style, some continuity goofs, a hidden pregnancy, some behind the scenes trivia, some shocking potential castings and the surprise black belt in amongst the Modern Family cast.

In one of the later seasons, Claire sees Gloria doing the laundry, she references the laundry basket that she's carrying by saying "Are you hiding a pregnancy, or are you actually doing the laundry?"

Sarah has been through a lot while filming.
During the course of the show,  Sarah revealed that she'd been dealing with kidney dysplasia, which required her to undergo a kidney transplant in 2012, with her dad donating one of his kidneys to her.

The “foreshadowing” with “Phil” reading the mail was actually Luke reading it to Phil & Claire in the last episode of series 3 talking about previous things in the series, not things that was yet to come

I rewatched this show so many times, I actually noticed some mistakes of the writers: in the first season, gloria tells us, manni went to primary school in colombia. In season 6 luke calls the tequilla: beautiful mexican treasure and manni thought, luke was talking about him and he told luke, thanks, but i was born in miami

Also that episode where Cam gets Jay to join his Bowling team and pretend he's gay is straight out of a Married with Children episode. But in married with children the ringer is Steve and he pretends to be a bundy but no one is buying it hahahaha
