These Easter Eggs In Sonic Were Hard To Find!

If you are at all like us, odds are you grew up falling on one of two sides of an epic playground feud. Nintendo, or Sega. Super Mario Bros. or Sonic the Hedgehog.

If that battle at all started to involve the discussion of films, for the longest while, Mario won by default. Because while the Super Mario movie wasn't exactly what one would call good by any stretch of the imagination, the mushroom-munching plumbers, at least had a big budget Hollywood film under their tool belts.

Well now, Sonic has finally stepped up to the plate with the simply tilted Sonic the Hedgehog, which just hit theaters. And it's actually not too shabby. It's got a lot of heart, some absolutely bonkers acting from Jim Carrey, significantly better CGI then what we saw in that one trailer, and a lot of little Easter eggs and details for fans of the blue blur to sink their teeth into.

And there is a ton of stuff in this movie. So much in fact that most people couldn’t possibly catch them all. Luckily, we were able to spot quite a few that you may have missed. So we are of course going to breakdown a handful of these easter eggs in this video.

3:16 the echidnas at the start of the film were shown to have almost the exact same designs as the ancient echidnas from Sonic Adventure 1. They even use spears as shown in the game. I just liked how they started the movie off with such a strong reference to my favorite Sonic game.

One thing nobody has mentioned yet. At the end of the movie when Tom and Maddie are fixing their house, you hear the Green hills music from the game in the background.

Just when Sonic is about to make a run for it in his cave, he puts on a large cowboy hat with stars. In the Sonic Ova, Knuckles wore a (admittedly less gaudy) cowboy hat. WITH STARS.

Actually the car bed was a nod to Sonic’s bedroom in the Archie Comics series. He had a bed that looked exactly like it

When on top of the building in San Fran there is a scene where Sonic is seen looking at the time on his watch then proceeds to tap his foot. This is a nod to Sonic 1 when you leave the controller untouched for 10-20 seconds

You missed when he hit the ground after falling from a building and all of his rings fell around him!! Definitely a nod to when he gets hurt and loses all of his rings

Ah, the mid-credit scene. Loads of parents with kids left as soon as the credits rolled while I enjoyed the artwork. After that scene, looked around and there were like 4 of us left looking like, hey, we know how this goes. B)

I like how they keep showing the Hill Top Rd sign when Sonic is playing ping pong by himself in his cave, but never mention that Hill Top is a level in the games.

When Sonic is running away from Robotnik, there's a brief slow-motion shot where Sonic kicks away one of Robotnik's missiles, and the pose that he's in during the kick is the exact pose that he strikes in Super Smash Bros.
