The Batman: 25 Things You Missed

Batman fans have wanted a gritty, dark, gothic version (not to mention a detective thriller storyline) of the beloved caped crusader for some time now and Matt Reeves has finally delivered with his brilliant, moody yet beautiful (and of course rainy) The Batman movie. The movie uses some of the devices that made Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy so successful, but also implements it’s own things to become a winged beast of its own and it has the potential to be a trilogy as good (if not better) as Nolan’s work. What makes The Batman so good is that despite it being a very different Batman from what we’ve seen in live action before, it also pays homage to the comic books and in particular some of the most well known Batman graphic novels of all time. It also pays tribute to it’s on screen routes, with some actually surprising call backs to other times Bruce Wayne has been on screen.

In this video we will take a look at 25 things or so you might have missed in the movie. That will include the aforementioned references to the comic books (including graphic novels from the 80s all the way to the New 52), references to a number of rogues and villains in Bats’ gallery, nods to fictional locations in DC lore, potential setups for new character introductions and subtle references to fictional DC substances, the way it tributes the brilliant and campy 1960s Batman series starring Adam West, the classic movies that you may not have known inspired the movie, the famous rock band that was the inspiration for Bruce Wayne, and some behind the scenes trivia and facts that you may not have known. This is everything you missed in The Batman!

What did you make of the movie? Did you catch all of these? Any we missed? Let us know in the comments below and make sure to subscribe to the channel today for all this and more.

Do you think the next Batman movie will be as long as this one?

When the Penguins hands and ankles were tied and he did that little penguin like waddle. That made me chuckle.

Some favorite, forgotten trivia of mine: Two-Face's coin originally belonged to Maroni. They changed that even before Long Halloween, but it's true.

Robert Pattinson said he would really want his version of batman to have a Robin who is 13 and not older. Said he doesn't think it can work any other way with how old Bruce is and how his personality would influence someone.

The reporter who was "hushed", his last name was Elliot. Hush's true identity is Thomas Elliot, that is definitely a reference and means Hush exists in this movie's universe

An accountant shows up to Wayne manor to see Alfred but then we never hear anything about it. Riddler was an accountant. What’s up with that?

I loved the penguins responses to batman and Gordon interrogating him lol

Um actually, the nightmare before Christmas wasn't directed by Burton. It was Henry Selick.
Though the story was written by Burton.

Something else many ppl missed are the musical homages to past films. The score Bat in the Rafters part 2, at 26 seconds has trumpets that mimic the "Batman!" from the Adam West series. Also, Selina Kyle's music in this film resembles Pfeiffer's theme in Returns.

You missed Catwoman asking, " Do you ever just say hello?" Julie Newmar's Catwoman had said the same line in the series.

One thing I found:
The bomb explosion, in the end, was 7 days after Riddler's first attack (the mayor) and the number of bombs planted was also 7

Burton did not direct "The Nightmare Before Christmas", that was Henry Selick, only produced and conceived by Burton. Might not have been a good idea to go into contentious references.

Robert Pattinson really demonstrating his skill as an actor with this portrayal of Bruce Wayne, really did do an amazing Comic portrayal of Batman/Bruce Wayne

Did anyone else pick up on the fact that Peter Sarsgaard who plays the D.A is married to Maggie Gyllenhaal who played Rachel Dawes in the Dark Knight and that both of their characters get blown up by bombs when Batman fails to save them?? 🤔

Did anyone notice that the corner grocery that the drophead robs at the beginning was called the GOOD TIME grocery? Wasn’t that the name of a Robert Pattinson movie? Number twenty-SIX!

10:34 I hope that in Penguin spin off...they make Black Mask as a gang rival instead Sal Maroni...Sal Maroni is kinda overused

This is a lot of research. Kudos. Makes more sense to watch this after seeing the movie. Makes me want to start collecting comics now

Excellent review 👍
1. After the Penguin car crash, Batman is seen upside down like a real hanging Bat 😊
2. Notice that 'To The Batman' phrase after ever killing by Riddler can have multiple meanings - For you Batman or With you Batman or You are next Batman 👍
🔥The Batman - A Masterpiece, Perfect, Oscar worthy movie 🔥

Nightmare before Christmas was not actually directed by Tim Burton. Common mistake. Henry Selick was the director.
