Disney's Encanto: 25 Things You Missed

The latest Disney animated movie to drop is more Disney magic. After Frozen, Zootopia, Wreck-It-Ralph, Tangled, Coco, Luca and Raya and the Last Dragon, the bar was set pretty high for the latest entry into the Disney canon. It tells the story of the Madrigal family who live in a protected realm thanks to a magical candle. It also gives the entire family superpowers and brings the house alive. The main character Mirabel must discover all of her family’s secrets and uncover the problem that is causing all of them to lose their powers forever. What follows is a fun, wholesome movie that also tugs at the heartstrings like every Toy Story movie.

So what all did you miss while you were laughing or crying? There are plenty of pieces of foreshadowing that hint at twists coming later in the film. There are also theories about secrets the film might be hiding in plain sight. The movie also has an allstar cast from things like Brooklyn 99 and Orange Is The New Black. It also features the music of Hamilton and In The Heights writer Lin Manuel Miranda. Then there’s the one Disney star who has to appear in every single one of their movies. Not only that but there are plenty of references to other Disney classics that have come out before such as Hercules and Beauty and the Beast.

So which of these are the best? Let’s find out! Don’t forget to like, subscribe and share for more from ScreenRant!

Is this movie going exciting and worth watching? What do you think is the best thing about this movie and who do you think is the best character?

I found it refreshing that Maribel doesn't receive a family gift by the end, but she didn't want one. She just wanted to feel like she fit into the rest of her family.

I believed her power is that she is the living embodiment of the candle. That's why it was melting and disappearing. She is like her grandfather and it's her love and protection of her family that made her the candles replacement

In the Spanish dub Mirabel says "and that is why they shouldn't have given you coffee" clearly making it more of a specific thing of not giving coffee to those kids in particular.

Mirabel wasn’t the only one without a gift. Abuela didn’t either. She led the family but had no supernatural powers. I like the theory that Mirabel’s gift was actually the wisdom to take over leading the family when Abuela passes

I honestly wish we got more development on Camilo’s character. It’s so clear that the gifts and how much pressure Abuela puts on the family take a toll, and there is probably a lot to unpack with Camilo’s struggles.

During Delores’ verse in “We don’t talk about Bruno” he can be seen lurking around on the upper balcony.

I just figured Mirabel was abuella's successor. Abuella doesn't have powers either.

I’m not sure if anyone noticed. I felt like Casita’s ‘emotion’ was reflected in Mirabel. When the house fell apart it was because Mirabel felt ‘broken’ as well becuase she realized she has tried n tried but was never good in the eyes of Abuela. Hence why the house fell, but before that during Issabel’s song she felt hope in her sister and her flower gift hence why some of the cracks started healing. Her gift might be the power to communicate or smth with Casita.

My family is from Venezuela (which is right next to and used to be part of Colombia) and I really liked two things above all in the movie.
1. Having grown up on arepas, and other cultural foods, they look EXTREMELY realistic. Growing up, I'd bring an arepa to lunch, or mention it in school, and I'd have to explain what it was, but now I can just reference this movie.
2. Also, I like that they added all skin colors for the community. For example, Pepa being pretty pale, and Tio Felix being darker-skinned. My family has always lived in South America (I'm first generation American) and my aunt and cousin are white enough that if they didn't have an accent, you wouldn't know they were Hispanic.

I'm really glad they got to keep Luisa's build in the movie. Her design is really cool.

According to my sister, Mirabel's power is " Keeping her family together "

Aaaaand the reason she didn't get a gift, is because when you touch the candle before entering into the room, you get magic particles on your hands and that activates the door. But she wiped her hand on her clothes before opening the door.

I wish that Dolores got her own song and more screen time because I dont get to see her much like her brother Camilo. Also I want to see every member of the madrigal family's rooms

Fun fact: Bruno was going to have a different name, but the song sounded better as "We don't talk about Bruno, no no no" since y'know...Bruno ends with a -no soooo

I think her power was along the lines of bringing out the best in people and keeping her family connected to the magic. It was her grandmothers fears that caused the cracks and the magic to fade, it was Mirabel who helped her realise what was most important was the family not the magic. That's why Mirabel's door turned out to be the front door of the house rather than a door on the inside. Her "room" is the whole house.

Fun fact: in the spanish dub (voiced entirely by colombian PPL), the coffee phrase is not "that's why coffee is for grownups", the phrase in spanish is "that's why you should not drink coffee" talking specifically to the hyperactive kid.

I’m so happy to see a main character with glasses, being someone who has 20/250 vision and needing glasses, it makes me glad to finally have a “visually” relatable character to me

I have a theory that Mirabel's door was technically moved, and it lacked the proper knob to transform and show that. Her door wasn't meant to lead to her room, but it was supposed to be the entrance to the house. Because the candle's miracle power and house magic was to be her power/inheritance. The life cycles of butterflies was hinted a lot in the music (but didn't have translations) and its theme was how they had to break down to be reborn. Mirabel was the next in line to be the power source of miracles. It was no longer the candle. The candle was transferring its power to her/the power of the house. Hence, the cracks when she got upset and felt broken, the house repairing and the candle being brighter when she made up with her sister, etc, etc. And the moment when she got to put her door knob onto the entrance of the house, it became her true door.

I think if people payed more attention to Dolores they probably would have known about burn alot earlier. She hears him talking and doesn’t tell anybody. She also sings about associating him with sand because of the falling sand in his tower. The attention to detail in this movie is amazing!

MIRAbel = Mira = see/look Bel= sounds like Ver in Spanish = Ver = See. Her name? Look, See. That’s her gift! That’s why she wears glasses, to see things how they really are.
