When you really understand how heavily indoctrinated stormtroopers were to ensure loyalty, then add to that the fact that Mayfield was a scout trooper, an elite even among the stormtrooper core...it really shows how bad Operation Cinder was. It literally broke one of the most loyal soldiers in the Imperial military.

"We all need to sleep at night."

Man, that line was so brief but conveyed so much emotion.

0:26 "You did what you had to do. I never saw your face."

That made me respect Mayfield so much. Bill Burr's acting is 💯

The facial expression of Burr after "to the empire", that smirk due to internal pain and memories, just great, I felt it myself

This is how Fin should've been written. Not as some funny bro, but as a ex-trooper with a lot of pain and trauma who could no long believe in a cause where so many of his brothers die in front of him like expendable assets, you know...like how they showed him in the beginning when his Trooper friend dies....before they forget about it...like immediately.

Nobody in Hollywood wants to admit it ...but Bill Burr nails it

The fact that it’s Bill Burr doing this makes it 1000 times better 😂

I personally love that little smile and scoff Mayfeld gives before shooting him in the face. You can see the wheels turning in his head slowly as he contemplates his decision:
1. "I have an opportunity to avenge my battle-buddies..."
2. "I'm actually going to enjoy this."
3. "Fuck it, I should've died a long time ago."

There's one thing that I absolutely *love* in this scene. It definitely adds to the flair of this episode for sure... The small pause before the fight ensues. That human thing we all do in life as our brains try to calculate reality. The "did he just shoot that officer?" That weird static just before the storm. It is brilliant.

"We can't develop a character in 3 minutes! It's madness!"
Bill Burr: Hold my beers.

You know Mayfeld is a legit sharpshooter because, as an imperial soldier, he no doubt would’ve been using blaster rifles. Meanwhile, he picks up a cycler rifle (which is a slug thrower) and manages to get a perfect shot at an awkward angle from a moving vehicle.

Mayfeld is a genuine sniper.

I love how Mayfield went through an entire character arc in this episode from "rat bastard only out for himself without a care for the consequences" to "former soldier coming to terms that the problem isn't the galaxy but that the ones who used to run it didn't care how many people had to die to stay in power".

I like to think that if Mayfield didn't start shooting the rest of them, they would have carried on like nothing happened. "That guy was a prick" one of the guys at the table behind him woulda said

Bill Burr was an unexpected but absolutely perfect addition to the Star Wars universe

when you realize the guy at 0:19 is the only imperial trooper that we see without a helmet in the live action movies/shows
