The Ryobi weed wacker string replacement on the Ryobi 40v power head with string trimmer attachment just may be the easiest string replacement you've ever done.

These Ryobi weed wacker string replacement step-by-step instructions demonstrate how easy it is to replace the string on the Ryobi string trimmer. Ryobi made it easy to coil the spool so gone are the days of trying to load a coiled spool while trying to keep the string taught and untwisted. With the simple crank on the bounce knob, loading is as easy as reeling in a fish.

Glad I'm not the only one who struggled with refilling the line on this product.

If it weren’t for this video I’d have never gotten the line changed. Thank you for the assistance.

Thank you so much for this wonderful video. This sets a standard for what a "how-to" video should be. It is well-paced, informative, and the visuals support every step. I never would have gotten this put back together and working without you!! And now I know how to rethread without opening the entire unit! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

My dad passed away last year and anytime he would visit he would replace or fix anything that needed replacing/fixing. This was perfect and to the point thank, feel like he would have been proud

My husband passed away suddenly last year and I've had to learn to do a lot of things, and replacing the string on his Ryobi weed wacker was one of those things.
Thank you for this detailed easy video, it truly helped me out!

This video was so very helpful! My husband passed in February and I find myself doing what I called "his jobs". I had to get help with tightening the head from a manly neighbor (my hands are way to small to grip), but your video was awesome! Thank you so much!! It is the only one that I watched that was helpful.

You don't actually need to remove the spool from the housing. You just line up the line on the yellow/green bobbin with the holes in the outer housing while it is fully assembled. Then feed the new string in through the holes - it will feed straight through. Equalize the string so the same amount is sticking out each side and then wind it with the tool. Viola! Easy peasy.

Thank you! I've owned a Ryobi weed wacker for about 6 years and just always loaded it my way... I happened to look up the proper way to load the string today and man, what a difference. Thank you!

The other videos I watched only show you how to put the string in when the string has already been removed. No need to take it apart. But I was wondering about the remaining string left on the spool. This video really helped me understand the removal of the old string. Thanks for posting.

This video finally allowed me to use my trimmer again! Mine wasn’t empty, just tangled, so I appreciate you showing the entire replacement process and not a shortcut. Thank you!

Perfect! From the instructions that came with the weed trimmer, Ryobi, I had no idea what to do. Perfect instructions. As soon as the sun comes out I'm trimming the lawn. Thank you, Field Guide DIY

Wow thank you so much! I spent almost a hour this evening trying to do this. The man in me was too lazy to read the instructions or grab my phone. Makes sense now. You’re a life saver!!

THANK YOU!!! I came to my grandmothers to help her mow and your video helped me know how to fix their equipment and help them remember how!

Thanks for opening the trimmer head. In fact, you do not need to take it apart, you can align the two arrows to the two points pulling the string through the two holes, rewind it. I learned a lesson that the spring jumps out when I pulled out the head too fast.
