I love that moment Davey Jones realizes Jack Sparrow is the only one who can best the devil

I just love how gentle the kraken is with the Pearl. How it supports the masts and gently tucks her under the sea. Done with great delicacy.

2:27 I like how Davy Jones’s response to that line is a look back and then forward. Before then turning around and asking for the chest to be opened. He realized after hearing that, that Jack maybe did outsmart the Devil. Maybe things seemed to have gone too well for hunting down a man who had been giving him trouble for years, and he was right.

I like how Jones’ tentacles start going crazy after he looks in the chest. Nice detail to show his seething rage

"not even Jack sparrow can outsmart the devil"
Davy Jones: wait, that doesn't sound correct

Jack will do everything in his power to avoid Death, but when he can no longer run, and Death is standing right in front of him, Jack shows no fear.

Who else believes Jack's one goal was to annoy Davy Jones as much as he could before he died?

bill nighy is just phenomenal, you can see every little emotion in just jones’ expressions, the hateful respect for jack, the doubt creeping into his mind, and the seething rage when his fears become a reality, i love that he’s not even surprised, just absolutely livid

Truly Legendary character. Hopefully Disney will at least have enough respect to retire him properly.

I like how the kraken does a little wave to Davy Jones when it finally drags the Pearl into the water.

2:30

Maccus right there, just reminded Davy Jones of just how tricky mortals can really be. After all, Will bested in at Liar's Dice in a deleted scene, and he stole the key without much more trouble than a Kraken encounter.

It was then, however, that he realized a particular doubt he had; when the heart is near, he can feel the same emotions he held as a demi-god, before carving his heart out. But even with the chest, he couldn't feel anything... And it was then, that he realized that Jack's uncovering of his heart, ultimately screwed him.

I like how his crew is so terrified and backs away from Jones as he screams Jack Sparrow.

Love that fact that instead of breaking the ship in half, the Kraken instead takes down the Pearl with delicate and not breaking any mast or rigging.

One thing I love about Jack in this scene: He's actually not afraid of death. He just enjoys any moments he's stuck into (except when the rums gone). Sure he still has the nature to survive and escape the incoming dreads, but when facing the inevitable he does not panic. He faced death head on with a smirk on his face and a one liner. Plus the fact that his tactics with the heart of Davy Jones be it beneficial to him or not eventually, still ensured as a loss to his opponent, and in this movie it's Davy Jones.

The way Jack just shrugs it off after being covered in drool from the Kraken.
