Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest is a 2006 American fantasy swashbuckler film. It is the second installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean film series and the sequel to Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003). It was directed by Gore Verbinski, written by Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio, and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. In the film, the wedding of Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) is interrupted by Lord Cutler Beckett (Tom Hollander), who wants Turner to acquire the compass of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) in a bid to find the Dead Man's Chest. Sparrow discovers his debt to Davy Jones (Bill Nighy) is due.

And both their curiosities were settled at the exact same time. Jack comes back, saves everyone from the Kraken and becomes a hero. Then Elizabeth sacrifices Jack to save her and Will's life, with no apologies. Acting selfishly like a Pirate, which Jack calls her out on.

I just realize that the the line "why doesn't your compass work?" doesn't speak about the compass of Jack, because not only she got and explanation of how it works, and she herself found out that it does actually work by using it herself. She is talking about his moral compass xD

They could've cut back and forth between them or did a full wide shot, but small directorial choices like this can elevate a simple scene.
