Back in Port Royal, Governor Swann releases Elizabeth and makes for a rendezvous with Captain Hawkins, only to find Beckett's henchman, Mercer (David Schofield), waiting for him. Elizabeth, however, uses Mercer's appearance as a diversion, escaping back to Fort Charles, where she confronts Lord Beckett at the end of a pistol. Beckett makes a deal with her, giving her the Letters of Marque in exchange for Jack's compass. She leaves, and stows away, disguised as a sailor boy, aboard the Edinburgh Trader.

When I was a child I didn't realise just how good of a character Becket is, he really carries the second and third movies and steals almost every scene he's in

I love how he still keeps his composure and to some extent his power when she raises the gun but you can tell it threw him off guard.

I sense some lingering resentment from when she refused to Marry him in Pride & Prejudice ;)

Things that went way over my head as a kid: “consider into your calculations that you robbed me of my wedding night.”

Ya know, I don't think Beckett gets enough credit for just how knowledgeable he is about the mystical side of their world. Others in his position might scoff at these legends, but he not only knows a good many of them, but knows they are real with such confidence. And instead of trying to destroy them, he makes the supernatural work for him. Credit where credit is due, Beckett may have been a right asshole, but he at least was interesting.

When I was a kid, I got goosebumps when Beckett mentions the Aztec gold, made me think:
"How Does HE Know About The Curse..."

Beckett is probably the best Villain in the series, his actions and words are so subtle even after seeing every line a fair few times I could still find meaning in a deep analyzation of it

"I'm afraid currency is the currency of the realm" is a far better line than has any right being in a Pirates of the Carribean movie.

Nothing like Mercer greeting an old friend:

"Evenin' Gov'na, "

‏‪0:38‬‏ I love how Price deliveres the line, truly sounding like a man who is trying to think reasonably but is overran by the horrific thought that his daughter could be dead by the morning if he doesn't do something 😢

Governor Swann has been more of a good friend towards Jack and the crew and great father towards Elizabeth and Will and would have made a wonderful grandfather towards Henry. Rest in Peace Governor Swann (Actor still lives)

Damn, its craY to realize how cold blooded Beckett really is, like dude had 0 emotional reactions 80% of the time, yet when he speaks he is abnormally intimidating

The way Elizabeth runs out of the room at the end in those ridiculous clothes she has to wear always sends me into a riot of laughter.

He could have easily jumped her when she got close but he knew everything that was going to happen before it did
Beckett is a genius
