When life seems to fall apart and hope seems to disappear, let your soul be still and remember that God never leaves you.

Like this mother facing a life of addiction and the loss of her children, you can find comfort in the words of the song Be Still, My Soul, no matter your situation.

Jill Chipman performs "Be Still, My Soul".

Be still, my soul: The Lord is on thy side;
With patience bear thy cross of grief or pain.
Leave to thy God to order and provide;
In ev'ry change he faithful will remain.
Be still, my soul: Thy best, thy heav'nly Friend
Thru thorny ways leads to a joyful end.

I grew up in the LDS church. I lost my mom in January 2018 and my younger brother in January 2019. I’ve been inactive for 10+ years. If it wasn’t for my upbringing in the gospel, I truly believe my loved ones deaths’ would’ve broken me more than it had. Recently, I’ve been thinking about everything from my upbringing, how it’s helped me, how I realize I do have a testimony but it’s not as strong as it once was. My relationship with my Heavenly Father and Christ isn’t what it should be and I don’t know them personally anymore. I also think back and see how my testimony relied heavily on my mothers’ like “borrowed faith”. The more I think about it, the more I want to start over and gain a true testimony of my own and strengthen my relationship with my Heavenly Father and Christ.

This song speaks of the grace heavenly father has for his children. I'm a recovering drug addict and Jesus Christ has blessed me abundantly. Sacrament meeting and relief society were amazing. I'm glad I'm clean ❤now. In the sacred name of the only begotten of the father, Jesus Christ, Amen 🙏

This was me. I left two children for the life of drugs. Thank goodness I had a relationship with our lord Jesus Christ. I am nothing without his grace. This short movie brought me to my knees. So special. I needed this today too. Thank you Lord

Right now I'm homeless and have nowhere to go and this song came on and I realize I'm never alone. As I walk through the darkness of evils. I feel no evil for the lord is at my side. I realize I'll be ok

I remember distinctly being a student at UW Seattle 1990-1994. I encountered a young LDS couple, they were my roommates in a rooming house close by university. Having grown up in Bellevue, I knew LDS friends as a youth but never asked about it as I couldn't formulate what questions to ask. In 1993 I got addicted to sudafed and caffeine pills. I ran several hours late each night just to be alone. In my summer job I worked for a public works Dept. I found the 1992 Ensign, "Believing Christ". I read and reread that issue. I no longer felt I needed the drugs and I quit. This occurrence was a direct result of that publication. I still feel alone, you don't forget the quietness and darkness of the blackness of night, but that is my experience and isn't related to my church Ward, my job, or my family. I accept aloneness. And I am grateful that the LDS Church was always straight about destiny and this is why I was baptised.

The power of Christ to change hearts is one of the greatest miracles I've experienced. He rescued me from a seemingly un-rescueable place. He replaced bondage with freedom, despair with hope, fear with love, loneliness with belonging and disturbance with peace. He is a God of miracles and nothing is impossible with Him. My life will never be the same and I can never be sufficiently grateful. God bless you all. Don't lose hope and never give up.

I'm deployed and I can relate on a certain level how it feels to be without family. I know what addiction is like and I've yet to overcome it. This song invited the Spirit into my life and let me feel my Saviors love!

I was loosing my self and my testimony of the truth but thank God, my fiancée and her advice which led me back to this song, it has really given me strength and reigniting my testimony. Thanks LDS for such a soothing song to aid the weak and the downtrodden.

I love this hymn; It's so beautiful and has helped remind me of the love of my Savior so many times. As one struggling with addiction, I would like to say that the Atonement of Jesus Christ is real, and that our Savior loves all of us. I am grateful of the support of my Family, and Priesthood leaders, and the Addiction Recovery Program.

The Program, to me, has helped me to better understand my relationship with God, and has given me hope in a brighter tomorrow, through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. As this beautiful Hymn says, "He faithful will remain.... Thy best, thy heavenly Friend, thru thorny ways leads to a joyful end."

I got chills and cried like a baby when it cut to Christ reaching out and lifting up the "woman caught in adultery." My God how great Thou art!

This hymn has a whole different meaning now since I've been struggling with my addiction and making my way back to full Recovery. The struggle is truly real but there's HOPE in the arms of God.
