My brother had Dementia. I spent some time with him and when he grew restless I played your songs for him and he calmed right down and seeing them. It just blesses my heart.

Having a stage 4 pancreatic cancer, this hymn reminds me of the assurance I have in God and Christ. From a 3 - 4 month life expectancy, praise the Merciful and the Almighty God, I am now entering my 11th month.

My faith in Christ has been restored and strengthened going through this dark ordeal ... the valley is brightened up by Christ's love. Christ understands all the sufferings of mine because Christ once became one of us, 100% God and 100% man.

Those who are deeply suffering out there, Christ will hold you fast. Christ totally understands you like no others ❤️🙏🏻✨️

For those who are interested, the melody is the last few minutes from "Finlandia", composed by Jean Sibelius in 1899. In 1940 V.A. Koskenniemi was comissioned to write lyrics for that section, which became the lyrics for the Finlandia Hymn.

TL;DR: The melody is from a Finnish patriotic song.
