"Be Still, My Soul (the Lord is on thy side!)" is a beautiful Christian hymn that speaks to God's love and care for us during our most difficult times, and weaves together a whole series of scriptural themes and references to biblical events including when Jesus calms the storm (Matthew 8:23–27, Mark 4:35–41, and Luke 8:22–25).

Originally written in 1752 by the German Lutheran hymnwriter Catharina von Schlegel, translated into English in 1855 by Jane Laurie Borthwick, it is most popularly sung to the tune of 'FINLANDIA' by Jean Sibelius.
