My parents never said that “they bully you because they like you” bs. They told me “that’s unacceptable behaviour” and then I said “but my teachers were telling me it’s because they like me”, they then went to the principal to tell him not to let his staff teach me those things. I got bullied a lot, but I never saw it as them liking me. I knew they were jerks.

Edit: I am sorry for making this only fit girls being bullied. I wasn’t thinking. I have changed my comment to be gender neutral so that this fits with anybody’s stories, because they are all valid and all bullying is wrong.

When I was in middle school, I was bullied by one of my classmates. He was really mean to me. He gave me the nickname "Mickey" because to him I looked like a mouse. He was always telling me: "You're stupid and ugly", "I hate you". He criticized everything I did. One day, I couldn't take it anymore and I told my mother everything. My teachers talked to him and he finally came to me and apologized. He told me he didn't think it had hurt me and that he loved me. I was so shocked and hurt that I yelled at him, told him I hated him and that he disgusted me. After that, he never spoke to me again and the teachers did their best not to put us together. It's really wrong to bully someone and break them just because you love them. Because of him, I withdrew into myself and stopped loving myself. To this day, I still get a lump in my stomach when I hear people laughing or even the word "Mickey", I feel like they're laughing at me like he was.
