A swelling associated with a toothache is an indication that there is an evident infection within the bone that is the tip of the root of the tooth. So what happens is when there is an abscess there si going to be probably an excruciating pain or in chronic conditions there without be any symptom at all, other than the patient will see that there is any swelling that is evident in the face or inside the mouth near the gums there can be swelling. So what happens here is how can we manage this. So first when we go to a dentist we are going to see how the problem, is. In case the tooth is going to be saved the pus or the abscess is going to be drained, the infection is going to be removed by the root canal treatment, followed by the abscess drainage. Couple of antibiotics will be given for the patient. After this, we would have to reassess the kind of tooth after the symptoms have come down.
