In this video, Dr. Berg talks about the negative aspects of lack of sleep (insomnia, poor sleep, and sleep apnea).

Insomnia can increase heart attacks, stress, and cortisol. Cortisol spike raises blood sugar and can worsen insulin resistance.

STUDY:

DIET
Make sure you raise your potassium, calcium, and magnesium, which are all calming minerals.
WALKING
Walking is an excellent way to reduce stress
INTERMITTENT FASTING and KETO (ketogenic diet) can also reduce your body's stress and enhance sleep, not to mention enhance your body's ability to absorb minerals, which then enhance sleep.

This is a great reminder that a great diet alone is not enough. Good food, good exercise, good rest.

I think this video is very important. There are so many people out there getting the "bare minimum" amount of sleep to be "more productive", not realizing hormonal component of sleep. Thank you Dr. Berg.

Honestly I could listen to you talk about several topics in depth. I wouldn’t mind longer videos covering one or more topics. I watch your videos while I’m eating my super healthy salads and it serves as a great motivator. You have my vote for longer videos!! Also, thank you so much for these videos!

As a PhD student, my academic career has been spent sleeping aprox 2 hours at night for the past 7 Yeats. Thanks to your videos, Dr Eric, I am finally getting healthy for the first time. Have said goodbye to late nights :)

I had to watch this video again, and I will probably watch it again. I can't praise or thank you enough Dr Berg. This video right here is talking about my problem, I think it is the core of my problem (not being able to have a full nights rest). I also notice that eating after 4 o'clock affects my ability to get a full nights' rest. I think I have a digestive problem as well, even though taking apple cider vinegar and HCL peptine. Lately I have added serapetasse to this mix after eating.and I don't feel like I have a brick in my stomach after eating any more. I hope this info. helps others.

Thank you. Do you recommend Gaba for sleep? It was given to me at Trader Joe's and seems to be helping.

Correct me if I'm wrong.
Proteins balance carb levels.
But If I eat high carbs before bed this will cause insulin to bring the sugars down.
And this will cause the adrenal gland (cortisol) to kick in and this will keep me from having deep sleep/ REM.

FEEDBACK:
• I like the short length.

• I think few more examples of foods and ways to put your advice into action foods/solutions could be useful.

• The friendly, non-patronising tone is always good.

• I like to know about studies on topics and would like to see links to some of those.

• My overall opinion is that this was a very good video.

Thank you.

U r spot on, few people realise how sleep, insulin, cortisol are related to each other and just count calories in - calories out method for fat loss .
As for me, I wonder when I do lower body workouts Why am not able to sleep on those days.
