Just some footage of the Bat Cave - Chimney Rock - Lake Lure area. This video was filmed October 11th.

I mentioned Chelsea's interview in this video. Here's some more information on how to help her:

This is a donation link given to me by a store owner in downtown Chimney Rock

The group who was boots on the ground and in the sky as soon as they could be - Aerial Recovery Group:
Aerial Recovery Group:

Many people are asking what they can bring or what to donate. It's hard for me to answer that. Please go on facebook and search for a reputable organization, where they are, and what they need. Someone like local churches, Samaritan's Purse, Cajun Navy 2016, etc. There are a lot of good organizations here right now but I don't know them all.

This region still needs a lot of help, especially Swannanoa and remote communities where cars still can't reach.

Edit:
Here's my theory on what the winds were doing down in the Chimney Rock Valley:

5 years ago when i bought my house there were 3 houses in my budget. The house in Cullowhee was next to the river. The house in Whitter had a stream about 10 feet from the back door and a spring under the house with a trap door for natural refrigeration and home cooling during summer months.

The house in Bryson City was all electric and on a hill. Yep it got creepy when the power was out that Thursday night into Friday morning September I'm so thankful I chose the one on the hill.

This is the new, reliable, non-political news coverage. Remember to throw the creator enough support to keep bringing us the news we can trust.

The mainstream news has totally blown it.

My dad used to have a house in Lake Lure and the mountains of NC became one of my favorite places in the world. So many fun memories of driving to Chimney Rock’s Main Street to get ice cream and piddling at stores. I’m heartbroken by the destruction of nature, but I have full confidence the people of WNC revitalize the area to provide more families with lasting memories like I have. Sending all my love!

PS - Mark, I found you through these Helene videos, but my boyfriend and I have fallen in love with your paramotoring content. Thanks for sharing your passion with us!!

I live in North Georgia at the foot of Fort Mountain. When you look out over these mountains, you get this sense of peace and tranquility. But at the same time you can feel the danger and desperation one can feel in these circumstances. The creek that runs right in my front yard keeps telling me the story of my neighbors up there in N.C and Tennessee. I've been gathering bits and pieces of debris floating along. I can't help but feel the anguish and despair for those who've been devastated by this storm. Truly, they are ALL in my prayers.🙏💯
