AC Joint Separation Rehab Exercises

An old school friend contacted me after a bike accident and an a.c. joint separation injury. He lives in Poland so I did him a video outling some specifics around doing rehab exercises to strengthen his shoulder.

I thought I would share it with you also, the point is to start on all fours building the strength through the hand, arm and up into the shoulder.
It is also important to add in different directions of force and movement, this challenges the range of movement and strength of the shoulder.

If you need similar rehab or have any shoulder issues please contact us for an appointment.

Thanks. Finally got an x-ray after 5 months and shows 1.2 cm widening. It's the strangest injury (smashed playing basketball). The area hurts most when at an angle, like doing a lat pulldown or incline press with barbell even with light weights. Finding health plan therapists pretty inadequate, also done the traditional therapy band-type movements. It's as if some sort of little "catch" sensation at intersection of upper biceps and outer shoulder when extend the arm. Any other video or resources you recommend? I'm doing about 50-60% of weight I used to do with that shoulder.

My shoulder makes popping sounds when I move my arm in certain directions, and I also have the bump on my shoulder so will doing this help heal it?

I had a grade 3 separation from a mountain bike accident two years ago.
I did not do well with recovery. My surgeon recommended surgery a mumford
procedure to be exact. The surgery ended up being a mistake because it became infected.
I had to have a second surgery to "clean out" the infection and I went on to a very long course
of antibiotics. Two years later I still suffer with extreme pain. Do you have any suggestions for me. I have pretty much given up. To anyone reading this I would not get surgery it is far worse now then before.

Good video. 6 days ago I separated my shoulder. A grade 3 or 4 based on my reading. I know i'd be unable to do these yet, but in your experience when will I be good to get started?

Hi, I play semi-profi ice hockey. I had cca 3 years ago right arm AC Injury grade 3 and after a few weeks it "dissapeared" without consequences. I think I am quite musculvative, so the shoulder is well supported from all sides.

Yesterday I hit the boards with another (left) shoulder and I again heard this "crack" sound although way smaller than 3 years ago. It again hurts where it did the last time, but this time it hurts way less as I guess it was way smaller injury. Also I don't see the "bulge" which appeared last time on the right shoulder and never dissapeared. I guess I need some week(s) a break but my question is....

..as with normal arm rotation to all sides I cause pain max cca 2/10 (10 the worst pain) and when trying to really make biggest pain (by pushing arm against something) I reach cca 6/10.

I am able to do all the excercises you listed with max pain 3/10, even I can do a proper push up with such a small pain.

Shall I completely keep calm, do nothing and wait when all pain symptoms dissapear or shall I start with light excercises from your video ?

Thanks,
Regards,

Vladimir
