Twice a week, typically Monday and Friday. 30min sessions broken up like this:

5-10 warmup - easy jogg

SIT (Sprint Interval Training) with 1kg weightbelts on the ankles, sprinting uphill (approximately 12-15% incline)

1.-3. rep:
100% sprint for 6s (approximately 40-45m)
54s rest Period (walk down to start position)

4. rep:
100% sprint for 12-15s uphill
105s rest Period

4 reps = 1 set

6 Sets total = ~30min

KILLER workout, incredible speed gains and fat burning.

I was on the Olympic team and competed in the Olympic games in the 200-m dash and the 4x100m relay and I have coached several people to make and compete on Olympic teams and coached guys to run 4.2 in the 40-yard dash My name is Wyndell Dickinson and I cosign every word in this video.

I'm a certified sports performance trainer and NFL combine pro. During a 3 month combine prep we rarely run top speed or max effort 40 yard dashes. Instead, we focus on 10 yards and starting. Much too taxing on the body to run a bunch of max sprints and does much more damage. If you notice you are not improving in your times, the first place you need to look is at your program and how much you are sprinting. Glad you posted this!

i am 50 years old. i use sprinting for fat loss and staying below 10% bodyfat, not to run faster. i am just trying not to die and look good while living haha but sprinting is amazing

Sprints are the most enjoyable workout, bar none.

I used to do it 5 days a week when I was in the Army. It was great. I'm fat now but getting back to it.

I was told by several world class sprinters that sprinting once at max speed per week was too much. They all told me that you must peak at the right time of the year which are the finals. I tend to agree with this bc it keeps you healthier to reach the end of the year running your fastest. But this doesn't mean don't train intensely & go too slow. You just can't burn yourself out. And I learned this from people who trained with UCLA & HSI coach John Smith. Who knows maybe they were lying to me bc they didn't want competition‽

Depends on how early or late we are in the season. Mid to late season I do max speed work twice a week.

After a meet my coach normally gives us strength and endurance work for 2 to 3 months and 2 months of speed training

Thanks for posting these videos, do you have any soccer specific videos, I get speed is speed, but in soccer you have to modulate up and down in one run sometimes and max distance is 15 to 30 meters. Love, love to see some soccer specific videos. Thank you.

I'm hitting 31 years old, 2 years after a nasty ACL injury and surgery, I'm trying to get some speed back. Haven't got a distance electronically timed but I feel like I'm at around 12s for 100m which is what I was at pre-op. Would love to go sub12 and maintain that through my 30s :) I play non-contact rugby 2-3 times a week, sprint training at least once a week and gym twice a week. It's hard doing it all and manage the load properly. Tricky balance. Once non-contact rugby season is over I'll look to focus on sprinting over the winter.

Depends on the distance anything over 60m twice a week at the most. However you can get up to for days if you take two speed workouts and split them in half and don't go into the well

I'm a high school coach. We do pure speed work at max effort 2-3x per week depending on the week and the time of year. We're gearing up for Tournament time so we'll be at 2x/week while maximizing recovery

I'm in my 40's and i do full on sprinters with my dogs 3x a week on their walks. I walk each dog separately everyday and do a full on sprint with each one as well. I have always been fast but never timed myself when i was younger but i haven't lost my speed yet

I would say if you’re outside of the norm of sprinting or intense running durations then do test trials of 1-1.5 times a week for a couple weeks. 1-2.5 times a week and maintain 2-2.5 times a week. With truly max effort it is very taxing on the body’s recuperation factor and the muscles pertaining to implementing such high volume intensive stress to the targeted muscles. I actually did do a start of twice a week with test trials to get my body used to it. I did about a month of it but then one sprint my leg had very severe pain to wear my muscle felt it would tear. I pushed through the pain but recovery was longer than expected and it was a realization that I shouldn’t push too hard new routines my body hasn’t adapted to. Also the sprinting trials I did were as many sprints of 40-60 yards within 2-3 minutes.
Sprinting doesn’t have to be long as the whole application of it is your full body output so it is best not to overdo it
