It’s so hard to not like Emily despite her icy attitude because of how dedicated she is to her job. She probably put up with Miranda’s vile leadership for years but didn’t care because she appreciated the opportunity.

I love when Miranda is about to give her the coat and purse, stops, thinks for a second and then throws it on Emily’s desk. It’s kind of her way of saying “Good job, kid” or that acknowledgment that Andy did something right that Andy was so wanting earlier.

What I love about the beginning of this scene is the subtle shift in Miranda’s attitude towards Andy.

While she used to breeze right past her, she stops to give her a small head nod as a good morning.

While she used to give her instructions in her office, she took the time to pop her head back out to tell Andrea “don’t forget to tell Emily”

After watching this movie so many times, I think that the main difference between Emily and Andy is that Andy was smart with the way she worked, where’s Emily was just sucking up to Miranda and as time went on Miranda noticed that.
Not that there is anything wrong with hard work, but once you’re smart with how you work it automatically eliminates hard working

I love the coat covering the computer scene, with the backdrop being Paris, symbolizing that Emily was no longer going to Paris.

The subtle emotional undertones in this scene are very telling… Miranda, without a word uttered, said with the slightest gesture “Now you understand and have “arrived”!

In this point Andrea could have created a more "soft"version for Emily and let her know that due to the accident she has to go to Paris... Hurting truth isn't always the best option

Was it just me or was Andy thinking about quitting here? The way the scene starts, it's almost like she's taking it all in one last time before walking away, but once Miranda drops the purse and coat on Emily's desk, she reconsiders as she notices she's moved up the line.

Miranda was hard to impress, but Andrea impressed her just seeing Miranda gave her a little smile. On time for work, doing her job and taking fashion seriously. If you noticed that when Andrea finally took fashion seriously, she becomes like Miranda. Not like her attitude, but her decision to get ahead.
