CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Andy (Anne Hathaway) watches as the Runway Magazine office turns upside down when it is announced that Miranda (Meryl Streep) is on her way.

FILM DESCRIPTION:
Lauren Weisberger's best-selling novel about a young woman who stumbles into the hectic worlds of high fashion and publishing comes to the big screen in this comedy. Andrea "Andy" Sachs (Anne Hathaway) is a bright young woman from the Midwest who has just graduated from college and wants to work as a magazine writer. Andy has applied for a job at "Runway," America's most prestigious fashion journal; though Andy has little to no interest in the garment trade, they are one of the only magazines in New York with a job opening -- second assistant to editor Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep). As Andy quickly learns, Miranda is a diva with plenty of power within the magazine business and she isn't afraid to use it, and though Andy lands the job (primarily by being in the right place at the right time), she soon learns that working for Miranda could test the patience of a saint thanks to her endless demands and refusal to acknowledge the end of a work day. Andy struggles to hold on to the job and her sanity, knowing that a recommendation from Miranda can open nearly any door at any magazine, but can she handle the pressure without losing her mind along the way? The Devil Wears Prada also stars Stanley Tucci, Emily Blunt, and Adrian Grenier.

Ok but the driver who texted Emily that Miranda was coming is the real MVP 😂

This scene shows just how important the extras and supporting cast are in a movie. Everyone staring at Miranda with fear, frantically cleaning up before she arrives, and opening the gate for her entry are contributing to the heightened sense of tension and fear.

It's like trying to finish the chores you haven't even started when your mother calls and says she'll be home in five minutes

I can imagine it's like this at the Ellen Show.

This is an example of a good character presentation. We never see her entirely (which means, we never see her face) right until the end, but the way everyone reacts to her coming is telling of her character. Prime example of "show, don't tell" rule applied.

It's wonderful how she owns the whole room without raising her voice. Just shows you that the key element of power is the proper attitude.

When your mum gives you instructions to clean the house, and you don't do it until you hear her driving up the driveway.

I like how she gets an invitation to Michael Kors' party, but she's only going for 15 minutes. Still makes me laugh every time.

...The opening of the elevator door, the slight tilting of the head, the removal of the shades and the overall exit...absolute brilliance!!!..For that bit alone she should have won an Oscar

I would love to see a Miranda origin story. How she rose within the fashion industry and how much she had to sacrifice to get to where she’s at right now. I feel it will help to better understand her as a person and an editor

That shot of Meryl and Emily going down the hallway takes me out every single time. Seeing the people who are about to step into that space, see Miranda, and then back up. What a nice touch. Same with as she’s walking into the lobby and people scatter to get out of her path.
