Let me know if you all would like to see more of this new format!
EDIT: I am so sorry I forgot to add the name of the app that displays CAD models in AR!
The app displayed in the video is called 'CADDY' and can be found on the app lab section of the Meta app store, I highly recommend giving it a whirl

It replaced my Vive pro, steam link and the ease of use made it a no-brainer. If meta could pull off an OLED version for this headset they would have a double home run

As a person who’s broke and, I’ll take one for the team and have that index 😔

I’m an index user and was curious about his opinion until I saw his hat

That start up noise just gave me the biggest smile 😁

Quest 3 with valve index controllers and full body tracking and airline stream to pc is insane.

As someone who has bought a valve index recently, I truly think it is still worth it (depending on what you’re looking for ofc).

I personally enjoy the extreme audio quality (both sound and microphone), the knuckle controllers, and the comfortable head strap. I also fully play pc vr, and I genuinely prefer a cable.

Sorry I know this is kinda just rambling. But basically, if you want a really great pc vr experience, and you don’t care about it being wireless, or having AR, get an index if you can afford it.

The Valve Index is going on 5 years of age. Took long enough for Meta to catch up to it. But yeah, I think the Quest 3 is finally arguably a better headset overall. And I say arguably because it still depends on your use case. The Index is still a better platform for FBT, making the Index still better for VRChat. Basestation tracking still offers superior performance and Quest 3 still has significant latency for PCVR, making the Index still better for competitive FPS. And the Index still has better audio, though Quest 3 has gotten closer.

But those lenses on the Quest 3. They're so good. And the most aged part of the Index is the resolution of its panels. The visual quality of the Quest 3 is superior. So it depends on what you value most.

Amazing video! Noticed your incredibly well thought out editing and videography for a while now. Keep it up!

I'm working on making the switch, at least for certain games. SteamLink works surprisingly really well with my internet. I believe if the next Quest headset has OLED panels with an even higher res and the pancake lenses, it would be the best thing.

I got a quest 3 for Christmas, and doubted it hard.
But then it soon completely replaced my index 😬

I definitely think, the quest 3 is the BEST headset on the market, and will be for a couple years.

You forgot to mention how small and terrible the FOV is. Small FOV is huge game breaker when it comes to immersion. Index's 130° is supreme.

I replaced my Rift S with a pre-owned valve index for 400USD, it had the full kit. I already had two base stations since I bought fullbody tracking, and now everything, just works. No more Meta software crashing my game or not working or having to replug or restart my PC. I couldn't go away from base station tracked after just now getting it, everything works flawlessly. I'm also doing waaay better in beatsaber since I can put my sabers wherever without loosing tracking. Also, no calibrating.

I have a feeling like I am the only one who didn't get replaced Index by Quest 3 😅. I use both on different things. Maybe Quest 3 will replace my Index with 120Hz update on oculus link.

Index and Quest 3 owner here. I moved in January and haven’t unpacked my Index because all I use is my Quest 3, yet I don’t want to sell it. Also Quest 3 AMVR hand straps are a necessity IMO especially coming from the Index. Highly recommend checking them out.

I’ve used Pico 4 for quite a while and to be honest, I didn’t really like it, got index recently and it feels A LOT BETTER in terms of everything, even the resolution isn’t that much of a sacrifice apparently, now I’m curious if Quest 3 worth it since I didn’t enjoy Pico 4 which seems to be very similar to Quest 3
update 7 months later: got myself Q3 a few weeks ago and honestly it replaced my index ever since

i struggled with whether i wanted this or the quest pro for a long time... obviously the quest 3 is better, but the quest pro has one advantage the quest 3 doesnt, which is face tracking. sure, face tracking is niche and it doesnt really matter, but the issue with vr is theres not a ton of games on it, and most people will end up just not playing vr but every once in a while. the exception to this is games like vrchat. in vrchat the quest pro is significantly better than the quest 3, because the face tracking adds sooo much personality and interaction to the game. if youre looking into getting a new headset, and you mostly play vrchat, or youre mostly only interested in vrchat, the quest pro is 100% the better option no questions asked. you will come to regret not getting it over the quest 3 eventually, if you stick with VR. the quest pro has enough processing power and good enough resolution and lenses to make normal vr games still enjoyable, while having the added benefit of a form of tracking that is very rare and highly impactful in the vr space atm. we had the mouth tracker for a while from vive, but its discontinued for some reason so thats no longer an option, and sure there is diy eye tracking u can do, but that isnt exactly easy to accomplish lol.

so yeah, while the quest 3 is definitely the best all rounder for likely a while, for people like me who are more interested in the social aspect of vr, the quest pro is the best headset on the market right now. even better than the super expensive multi thousand dollar headsets out there.
