I read an article that sitting is the new smoking. That excerise a few days a week after work is not enough to counteract hours of sitting. You need to stand throughout the day as Bob and Brad have also stated.

I’m an MRI technologist. Been one for 33 years. At first it was a welcome relief because I was an x ray technologist... I agree with you guys. I’ve just recently had two hip replacements.

My APPLE Watch tells me automatically when to stand, walk, etc. It acts as my timer in my orchard which I have to water from time to time. On my acre I walk 3-4 miles daily. I'm 75 and my watch even has a heart rate counter and ECG...

the thing thats worked well for me are breathing / relaxation exercises that expand the diaphragm and help you become aware of whats hurting

Vein doctor told me when you are seated, the blood has to make two 90 degree turns going upstream through the arteries. One turn at the knee and another through the hip. He said this puts strain on the valves inside the arteries. It also causes some blood to collect in those valves, and if the stay stuck in the valves for too long, they can turn into clots. His recommendation was to where long tight socks or compression sleeves while sitting, even for healthy people. He also recommended to elevate the feet if possible while working.

I bought a standing desk for my home office. It's really great. It took a while to get used to it, but I feel much better now. I feel less restless after work and less stiff in the neck/shoulders. I do have a normal desk at my work place, lucky that I cycle to work, or else I would sit all day... I'm still looking for options at my workplace. I thought about getting a sitting ball there

I started tennis again after some time and I think it’s the best exercise against sitting. IMO

I’ve tried exercising while working at a desk but I can’t type accurately while doing it! I do flex my feet and circle them but that’s about it.
