I think the message that Thrawn is trying to give here is that everybody has something they want to achieve in this life, but no one can do them alone. Thus they must seek out assistance from others, reveal what exactly their aims are, and be prepared for either help from those who agree or those whose goals happen to align with yours, or hinderance from those who oppose your desires for one reason or another.
