In the original Thrawn trilogy, you saw this philosophy in action. In two separate instances, Imperial navy crewmen's actions were involved in letting members of the Solo/Skywalker family escape. The first time, a crewman didn't know how they escaped and complained that as he had never been trained for the scenario, it wasn't his fault. He was executed. The second time, a crewman in the same tractor beam duty position faced a gambit where he failed to capture Luke Skywalker. In his case, he had reacted quickly and tried a manual solution to the problem that failed due to his system shorting out. That crewman was promoted for quick thinking and given the task of finding a way to beat that gambit if it was used on the Empire again,

If Thrawn had ordered the rest of Konstantine's command staff to execute him and then maintain the plan, Thrawn would have won.

It would have been entirely in his character to order his removal from command for endangering the entire operation. Heck it would have been his responsibility as an admiral to do so by the Emperor's commission. Konstantine defied higher level orders, broke ranks, and caused the operation to fail.

Unfortunately for Thrawn, he was a leader within an Empire that prioritized power above all. One where people would grow so corrupt and twisted that they'd sooner seek to undermine others for the sake of their own promotion in the Empire. They wanted to have more command, more power, for themselves. In which case, your ability to even control your own subordinates will always struggle.

In Star Wars Rebels, he wasn't able to realize that Konstantine was growing more and more impatient over the inability to produce results. And when results were finally there for the taking, he could no longer hold it in. And due to that, Thrawn's flawless strategy to pin down and crush the rebels fractured and allowed them to manage an escape, even though the victory was still Thrawn's.

Everything Thrawn says in them is straight out of Sun Tzu's "the art of war" and is just shortened and simplyfied for the normals so that they can understand.

Thrawn failed in Politics and his disdain for other species.
His bodyguard killed him in the Last Command book series of Timothy Zahn series.
His lack of heart of the consequences of the Empire cost him his life.
Knowledge without Heart cost Thrawn everything.

Thawn in a way reminds of my mentor in a way. He didn't have the same speech and mannerisms as Thawn but when I hear these lessons from Thwan it's the same lessons my mentor thought me. I liked to think those lessons made me a better soldier then I chould have been without.
