Now it makes sense why Moff Tarkin didn't want to evacuate.

Makes me think of the Spartans’ mentality about walls around cities. They always saw them as a sign of weakness because it meant those within were afraid to face the enemies on the outside, and those outside would assume those within needed the walls because they were weak. A lack of walls, to the Spartans, meant a projection of confidence, that they did not fear the outside and those on the outside knew to stay away due to the Spartans reputation alone.

The thing I like about these "Thrawn Quotes", is that he doesn't try to bring down our asperations or dreams, but tried to realign them with reality, so we have a greater chance of success.

I have seen Thrawn explains stuff and this I understand very clearly. I fully understand what he meant. Ultimate safety is an illusion most people want due to their ego because THAT is what the ego wants.

Very wise!! Thrawn is correct, once again! Fortresses are a helpful tool, but they don’t need to be our source of peace - because what happens if/when the fortress falls? 😁👍

There's a reason why Saladin who liked to live in a tent kept winning and why Sun Tzu advises against fighting in sieges. Though Vauban came close until Kilometre range cannons dashed that hope for him.

Expect your fortress to fall or be conquered at some point, that way you might not fall with it.

Palpatine maybe had ultimate safety during the clone wars as he was the leader of both factions

I love these lessons from Thrawn so much in the first I don’t like that Timothy Zan did not continue to write these in the sequels of the Thrawn novel
I think they a excerpts from Thrawns personal journal in Sy Bisti. It is in Sy Bisti, in my opinion, because Thrawn couldn’t speak proper basic during these times yet he described his situation in the book flawlessly.

Thrawn has such knowledge, there is no safety... only safe.

A pity more imperial admirals and officers never took Thrawns words to heart.

Man this dialogue is so well thought out... I love Thrawn's perspectives on most of these topics.

Are you the one voicing Thrawn, or are you getting such an on-point voice through other means?

A fortress is a distraction from the real threat. They stand there, defiantely goating your foes to besiege it, slowing them down, hampering their movements and ultimately, acts as a hard place to destroy your enemies' rear against.

Imagine thrown as a sith or Jedi master, it would be like learning from the teacher at school who actually likes their subject and knows what they are doing
