It is true. In history, many conquerors, statesmen, kings, generals, admirals, people or fighters never took victory as a modus operandi to shape their best dream. Because circumstances were unclear at that time, they accepted victory as a meager reward. I love this explanation, thanks a lot for the videos.

Hannibal Barca is the best example for the last quote after the Battle of Cannae. He achieved the greatest defeat in Roman history for basically centuries before and after, but after his victory he lacked the ressources to exploit it accordingly and was bascially stuck in a position of beeing the unchallangable victor...without anything to gain from it. It turned out to be only a temporary victory that in the end, still lost him the war.
